If you have already read or heard from most personal finance authors, you may have already been told to cut your credit cards. While for most people, having a credit card means high tendency of overspending, getting buried deeper into debts, and many other negative things. I believe though, that it isn't all the credit card's fault but the lack of discipline from the card's owner. Wise spenders will actually use credit cards to pay their bills, shop, and buy their regular grocery items. It's because, they can accumulate points, participate in special exclusive offers, and even earn from rebates that otherwise they will not get if they paid in cash.
So instead of getting buried to debt like most would say, we can actually get to have more value while paying same amount by using credit cards wisely.
How are you doing with your credit cards today? Do they turn out to be good or bad for you?

I think they are good for me. I Make them work for me.. I take advantage of the points back redeeming them for cash off my bill or redeem them for cash off of my amazon orders. I have been paid just to open accounts and then recd cash back that I deposited into my savings account also. So for me they have been a plus. I make sure I do not leave a balance on any of may cards, once you have a running balance they nail you with the charges. I make sure to pay off every card I use at the tend of the month. I do use them to buy groceries, Home improvement supplies, Gas, and online purchases. Handled well they can be a good thing.

With all those said, it's no doubt that they've been good for you @minx267. That's what I'm saying that the advise to cut credit cards not all good after all. Its the discipline and wisdom to use them wisely that we should develop because we can actually get more from them if used correctly.

Its not really weird I think, because I've been working for more than 10 years I never have one too just until recently. There really is no problem for not having it but you may just lose some opportunities or perks that are openly available if you use them instead of cash.

They are good. But, one has to be totally under control in using them. Otherwise, you will be in debts forever.

This was a very good question. I used to have credit cards and used them because thought why do I have them if I do not use them. Now, I have an international credit card and really do not like to use it very much. Some bills go out of it, but, now I think before I use it and would rather pay cash or use checks than use it. I need it for certain things that come out of it.
