Responding or starting a discussion

Do you respond to others' discussion or would you prefer to start your own discussion? I used to respond more to discussions than to start my own when I was starting here in MyLot. Because honestly, Its harder for me to think of topics for discussion while its easier to just respond to topics that are also of my interest.
I'm not sure if you have noticed but do you think we can earn more for starting a discussions (with several responses of course) than just by responding to other people? I wonder how much we can make if we have like a hundred responses from our discussion.

I respond to a lot of discussion and here and there in will write my own post.... and you can make a good bit if you get hundreds of comment's.

@sjvg1976 that is how it's going to be when I go back to work depending on what hours they give me.

I do both and more importantly I comment on responses received. As just getting responses and not commenting would deprive the one who has responded of their earnings.

@aeisle If you respond to a post and that response does not get any comment you will not earn. For example if you had not commented on my response I would not earn anything but your comment will earn me something. And this comment I am making will help you earn
In other words. what we type others will earn.

@allknowing, oh I didn't know. So it's like we are actually helping others earn and in return, we get to earn from others too. Hmm.. that's not too bad, its one good way to control spamming in responses which is one of the problems from the old myLot. There are those who leaves one word comments like Yes, Good, I agree (well that's more than one word ) but you know how others used to do that thinking that more response = more earnings. (quantity over quality responses)

I do both but prefer to respond on other's discussions but honestly if you ask me starting discussion is better if you want to earn more from here. I have changed my strategy now a days as I always try to start at least a discussion in a day.

That's a good one @sjvg1976. Since I also have my day job, I can't of course do a lot in here during weekdays so I just trying to figure out how we earn as much with the limited time that we have. So I noticed that we tend to earn more from starting 2 discussions than giving 10 responses daily. Don't you think so too?

@Shavkat there is really nothing wrong with that. I myself is also close to that ratio. It doesn't really matter if we are more into response, comment, or discuss. It's all about actively interacting with each other as you said.
I'm just curious personally if we have myLotters that could possibly have more discussions than responses or even equal because from most that I know, we tend to have that 1 to 10 ratio for discussion and response.

I do both but mostly I like to discuss. Even I wonder whether discussion or response that earns more. Because I'm new to myLot.

Just based on my personal observation, I think you tend to earn more from starting discussion as long as it gets some responses. By the way, welcome to myLot @manasamanu!!!

I can't give you statistics (as in, amount earned) about what will give you a higher earning, but I believe that interaction is the key to myLot. So even if you make numerous posts, if they don't get that many responses and so there's not much interactions going on in there, it will probably not give you much earnings either. And if you have too many discussions, there is a bigger chance that some of them will be buried and not found by others.
Plus, starting discussions, IMO, should not be taken lightly here in myLot.
I stress, IN MY OPINION - just my opinion, discussions should be discussions. Not status updates, not simply a "good morning" or "good night", not simply an anecdote of what happened to you today (but a lot of people seem to do this)... You should somehow turn it into a discussion. At the very least pose a question that will encourage people to interact with you. But hopefully, the question would be a bit more than... "how about you? what happened to you today?" and certainly more than a yes or no question. I, personally, am hoping for a more specific question that can be discussed.
Having said all that (apologies, I realize I was rambling ), I like to respond to discussions more. As mentioned in one of my previous discussions, I'm hoping to participate in at least 10 a day. But I also want to start discussions every now and then. One a day would be nice, if I can think of worthy topics that often. But I don't think I'll go the route of others who make numerous discussions per day. As mentioned above, I think there is a bigger chance that some of your discussions will be buried and not found by others if you make too many of them per day.

Interaction and having fun are the keys to earning here. Without responding no one would know who we are so that's a must in order to do well here.

I remember I've read that somewhere here @LovingMyBabies. It's the most interactive discussions that gets to earn the most. We get to enjoy the earnings and the interactions from each other through our discussions.

I have been wondering that, as i have seen people whom literally do barely any discussions so they must just be responding to alot of people i guess.

@aeisle But if no one posts there is nothing to comment, that's why i like to do both.

I don't post discussions. I just respond to others' discussions. I have no time to maintain discussions in case I'll post one.

If I do not have anything to post then I like to go into others and see if I can get an idea from theirs.
