Having a bad day one of my rooms is leaking

My day is off to a really bad start.
My son is awful on Mondays as he does very bad with changes even subtle ones like having a day off to starting cyber school back up on Monday mornings. He raged for about an hour.
I went out into the back room which is an enclosed back porch and the door was a bit harder to open then usual. I noticed water around the edge of the floor.
Looking closer I saw the water had been leaking out the electrical outlet and around a cabinet shelf unit my grandfather had built on the inner wall.
Thankfully the pitch of the room tilts so the water is leaking away from the kitchen. The gutters are old and leaked on the back porch so bad over the years that it rotted the one side of that enclosed porch.
In a few months I am going to just have to give in and rip that old room off. I wanted to put an extra bathroom there but cannot afford to have the work done right now nor do I know what the future holds as far as if my boyfriend will have us move into a house he buys.
I am having horrible anxiety right now. The photo is the electrical outlet where some water is leaking in.

Having water leaking from the outlet could be dangerous. Not a good way to start any day

It is no longer leaking there so apparently it just was doing it through the the night. The door is hard to open so I think the wetness just warped everything a bit. It rained last night and I think the snow was melting off the roof somehow and draining into the wall. I am hoping this is an isolated event and will not happen anymore now that there is no snow on the roof there.

better make sure that outlet has no electric going in or near it as that could cause a really bad fire. etc.

That was what my mother was worried about. If I shut that electricty off then my fridge won't work I don't think. Hopefully I have taken care of things enough that water will not leak in anymore. I need to buy all new eavestroths for the back of the house.

My mother's boyfriend came down to look at it and he could not figure out any more then I could why it was leaking. I think it is because the evestroth came apart so it was leaking down between the wall. My father will be in town later tonight and can take a closer look at it tonight. I didn't want the old guy climbing around on my roof like I was as I was across the way he limped around on the snow that he would fall. My dad is more agile. I am terrified of heights but I climbed up there and looked around with no problem :-) I felt proud of myself.

Sit down and close your eyes, Take deep breaths. 10 if you can and will each breath out think about how wonderful the future will be.
Let go of the stress, your son has calmed down and every roof leaks sometimes, for all of us. It can be fixed.

My mother's boyfriend came down and lifted the ladder up for me to climb up and see what the problems was. There is no snow where it is leaking so I was pretty darned baffled. What I think happened was that the evestroth came apart so the water was dripping down between the inner wall between the back room and my kitchen. My dad will be in town late tonight and he can look at it more for me. At least for now it doesn't seem to be leaking anymore. It is possible that there was nice there that melted over night and was causing the problem.

I assume my dad will come over soon. It is raining and there is no water leaking in today so that is good. The for still is harder to open and shut but my guess is that is how it going to be from now on. I don't use that room much thankfully. My boyfriend never offered to come help me nor did he even respond to my texts yesterday or ask me how things are going with it. Makes me grouchy!

@Tina30219 I should assume maybe he didn't get any of the three texts but who knows it seems more like that he would have at least gotten one you know.

My mother was worried a it a fire from it. Her boyfriend drove down and looked things over for me. He said he thought ice was on the roof and as it melted was leaking in. It was not leaking while he was here but it had been during the night. He said the outside of the casing was wet but the wires weren't. He held a hair dryer to it for a bit before putting the cover back on. When I climbed on the roof I saw the eavestroth had come apart so I think it was just leaking down the roof and in between the inner walls somehow. He had me turn the elbow part out so it wouldn't drip there. I think I just need to clean the eaves all out and reconnect where it had come loose. The is something I should have been taking care of each year because the one eavestroth has been plugged and leaking over the porch for so long it has rotted it badly.

@JudyEv thanks. It isn't leaking today since I moved the eavestroth so I think that was the problem where it came disconnected. My dad came to visit but did not check out the leak lol oh well I will take care of the eavestroth soon when I get my boyfriend to prop the ladder up against the room for me to climb back up.

I'm sorry to hear that. With son - would it help to remind him of changes the day/s before the change happens? Or what about a small treat for you and him?
Best wishes with that extra room, eventually it will get sorted out, I know that maybe doesn't help....

There just isn't anything that seems to work when it comes to his behavior on Mondays. I am hoping pretty soon we can start doing asychronous cyber school classes so that will cut back on the amount of time he has to sit in front of the computer.

Well the water stopped dripping in once I turned the eavestroth out away from the spot it had come loose. All of the eavestroths were rotted. My father replaced one but more need to be done! I do not use that outlet but it is live so I know not to touch it when it was wet.

Thankfully my mothers boyfriend came by and since the leaking had slowed so much he thought that there may have been ice melting on the roof and causing the leak over night...Either that or the eavestroth that had come disconnected from the other pipe causing the water to drip in where it shouldn't. I have thankfully calmed down since but it took a very long time especially with my son's attitude today. My father will be in town late tonight so he can look things over for me better.

I am just as grumpy today but at least I did not have the horrible anxiety I had yesterday. I'm relaxing for a bit now and will likely read later. I don't feel like doing much.

It seemed very dangerous to me too. My mother's boyfriend didn't seem too worried about it. He asked if I took the outlet cover off and I said no because I didn't want to touch it and get zapped if the wires were wet. He didn't bother to shut the power off he just pulled out a jackknife and took the cover off. He said while the water might have leaved out the wall it didn't get the wires wet. He did hold a blow dryer on it for a few minutes to help dry it out. My dad will come look things over more today.

My so is really bad with any changes so Mondays for him are a lot worse then for others. My father came over today and replaced part of the eavestroth as well and will replace another section soon. It rotted some of the roof so that might need to be fixed in the future as well.
