Recently I started taking care of a pair of long bean. They are healthily spiralling up a rusty old iron trench which I recycled from my father's old indoor fountain. I have been neglecting them for a few days because of work and just had the time to check on them this morning. There's flowers on them now! I hope those flowers will start bearing long bean in a few weeks. That will probably helps reducing my grocery spendings.

Yes it is! Long beans used to be a cheap, easily available vegetable here in my country, but they can get pricy sometimes.

@shaqziad1610 These days vegetables in general and long beans in particular are rather pricey here too.

@silvermist Right. We spend so much getting nutrients on our plate. I hope I could somehow help contributing something to my household. Buying good quality, organic vegetable is a luxury not everyone can enjoy. At least I could provide them with some fresh produce now and then.

Yes, they are nice plants. I started this frugal garden idea to reduce grocery spendings. So I tried gardening without spending a dime, thus the recycled trench.

@Janice2017 Long beans, yardlong beans, or sometimes called snake beans due to its long, spiral, snake-like shape. We consume the young pods. It taste like asparagus. I like them in stir-fry, but my parent prefer them simply steamed. I will post the actual beans picture if it succesfully bear fruit.
