No Comments. Why Blog?

Been noticing a pattern in one of the blogging communities where I am active. There is no “quid pro quo” there. What I'm saying is that although I leave comments at various blog posts by other members, seldom is the favor ever returned by someone leaving a comment at my blog posts. I was about to take it as an insult but then after much deep thought and contemplation I said to myself: “What am I thinking? People hardly ever leave comments at any of my blogs. This blog is no different just because it's in a community. Duh!” Ah well! At least I do earn 15 cents for a 300 word post. At my other stand alone blogs, I can only hope and pray to generate income from ads and affiliate links. * * * OR … or … maybe nobody leaves comments because the posts are so boring!! (Yawn.) Oh shut up! No! You shut up! Sorry folks. The “voices” in my head are having a debate. Pay them no mind. Bottom line: Keep on blogging!

Sounds like lots of mylotters, they seem to feel that if they comment on someones discussion that those same lotters should comment on theirs ...... I don't feel that way, I'd much rather banter with lotters, no matter whose discussion it is. Those lead to threads which bloom into all kinds of silly conversations, I just luv it. It also helps the purse strings

It works well that way with myLot. This platform is different from the herd.

It sure is @cmoneyspinner I don't miss the sites like Gather or Bubblews, those were boring compared with Mylot.

@rebelann - Gather confused me. Bubblews kept deleting me. Gather disappeared and Bubblews deleted itself. Fortunately, myLot resurrected and came back to life! I'll stay here as long as they let me stay!

I never earn anything from. My blogs but I do enjoy writing them anyway. I hardly ever comment on blogs that I read but I do read many. I have only gotten one comment on a blog I wrote one time.

@shaggin - You've never had a problem with disappearing comments?

The thing is … at certain blogs, sometimes my comments get published and sometimes they disappear! When my comments evaporate into thin air, I may continue reading the blog but won't leave my “paw prints” behind. It's bad for the blog publisher for two reasons: (1) the publisher may think nobody ever visited and not even realize comments aren't being posted (there could be a problem with the Comments module) and (2) blogs that get comments gain higher visibility with the search engines. Comments are good for the blogger but the blog can still survive with or without commenters. No matter for me. I will continue leaving comments because I enjoy it! Quid pro quo or not!

I have a cooking blog and it has nothing to do with earning money. I have it so that it will be easier for me to cook as my recipes are all in my blog. I can keep, find and share it easily. I don't receive many comments and it is OK. Whenever I receive one or two comments, I will be so glad already.

Not many comments get left at cooking blogs but I'll bet they get shared and bookmarked a lot.

That's what I like on this site. The mylotters are active to interact. I also had the other site that members seldom comment on blogs. But then, the platform is fine with me. I feel spooky being on that site. I just grab the chance to earn extra cash. I don't mind if there are no comments.

Me too. I don't mind about no comments. When I do get comments it's a surprise! Those "voices in my head" were trying to make me feel bad but after I reasoned it out I felt OK.

I have 4 blogs they are theme blogs one on music, one on traveling, animals and poetry. I don't get many comments but I get a lot of likes and the occasional follow. That is alright for such blogs and of course I don't make money on them. However for sites where you can get some money there should be at least some comments on everything you post for the interaction alone. If you are not getting comments perhaps you should rethink about what you write. Take a look at the community you are talking about and make a note about which topics people are most interested in and then rethink your strategy. Just suggesting.

It's a good suggestion. In the beginning though, I used to get comments. That's why I find it odd because lately my posts aren't getting any remarks. It's no big deal. Like I said, my other blogs don't get comments either.

It is always disapointing when we take so much time writing and get very little response, it does upset me to.

But we persevere. I read blog posts that go as far back as 2007. Suppose that blogger had given up and unpublished their blog? I may have never found the post 10 years later.

Somehow I just cannot write blogs there and probably that is why I do not comment as well. I like to comment on your blogs .

Just keep commenting even if no one replies. It's a PLUS for you because many readers could notice you. Others will have a negative impression for the author.

I agree with the keep on blogging thought. I do try to reply to other items, here, but it is easier said then done!

It is a lot easier said than done. The trick is to not take it personally. Everybody in the world is just as busy as you are, trying to work and earn a living just like you are, and have their own priorities, just like you do!

I love to get into a good comment exchange. But it's difficult sometimes when I run across posts that don't inspire comments. Then I usually just read and move on.
