Obituaries, who else reads them?

I am not sure when exactly I started reading the obits in the newspaper, but I can remember in high shcool stumbling across them in the State paper and finding out that the custodian from my middle school had been killed in a head on collision while on his motorcycle. I'm sure I probably looked at them before then, but ever since I have read them from time to time. Most of the other halfs family is in the town that we used to live in, and there is no communication between them. It is a long story, and a big mess that I try not to push him on, because he is an adult and can make the decision to talk or not to talk to them all by himself. Plus some of them, I know and agree with the reasoning for him not maintaining a relationship with them. That being said I still care if several of the members die, and check the obits for the town monthly or weekly. His grandmother was not in good health the last time I saw her, and even worse the last time I heard anything about her- so I keep tabs to see if she is still doing okay. So far, she hasn't appeared in the obits, which I have full faith that she will on that sad day when she is no longer with us. Anyway, now that I've gotten that little morbid spiel over with, I figured I would see if anyone else keeps up with the obits, or even pays them any mind?

My Dad and I would read them together and Mom would say hope you don't see yourself in the obits. Its sad when family members are in them. One day I saw the woman that had the same name as mine and you can't imagine how faces turned white when they saw me walking down the street.

It is the only part i skip when reading a newspaper. I don't pay attention at them.
