CHEATERS.

In her discussion titled "Bits and Pieces" - @PainsonSlate mentioned one participant in a huge race who cheated and accepted the prize for eighth place winner. I then recalled two other brazen incidents of cheating that I read about some time ago . One was about a long distance runner who hopped on a bus half way through the race - and another who took a short cut through the woods. Now where is the satisfaction in receiving an award for success when you know that devious methods were employed to achieve it? Of course some people get a "high" out of being able to get away with things like that - but in the long run - they are the real losers. Apart from sports - where quite a lot of cheating goes on - what are some of the other areas where lots of cheating can be found?

Everywhere in life as we are learning. It would be hard to find a place where a person can't cheat.

@Kandae11 It has gotten to the point of ridiculous now, hasn't it? Some almost expect to be cheated by anyone they deal with in business.

They can be almost everywhere - from the smallest enterprise to the biggest corporation.

I'm with you what's the point if you cheated to get there. I don't get it.

@computerguy1980 I suppose but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I cheated.

I would feel as if I stole something, I would feel low -- but not everyone has a conscience.

Cheating in exams. I think it was last year. Two students were found cheating during the exams and they were neither allowed to sit for this paper nor the other papers

It is one's conscience that dictates whether one feels guilty or not.

there are some professional cheaters and they don't have the conscience to examine, because it is already a way of life for them. cheaters here too, and they don't have the soul to correct that attitude.

There is a lot of cheating in this world. People cheat on their income taxes. Salespeople;e often misrepresent the products they are selling. So we need to beware!

It wouldn't give joy to an honest person, but, an honest person wouldn't do that.

Well there was the deflategate where the New England Patriots allegedly underinflated the football to gain an advantage. It didn't seem to damage the team's reputation much.

Most of the cheaters (we hope) are caught in their lies and are not allowed to ever join the races again, off the top of my head at this moment I an thinking of a president who used the help of Russia to make sure he won...and I hope he is impeached and never gets a chance to run again... although even those who voted for him realize he is an idiot, not a president.

I recall years ago during elections in my country, both political parties would accuse each other of cheating. However, some measure of confidence was restored when international observers were invited to sit in during the proceedings.

It is hard to understand the reasoning of some people . However, there are others who would feel very uncomfortable accepting a 1st place award if in their opinion they feel their performance merited a 2nd or 3rd place - remember the dance competition in "Saturday Night Fever"? well - for those who saw the movie.
