I Feel Like Chicken To(morrow)night!

Following on from my post about my friends Robbie Williams/timer/neighbour related shenanigans I bring you another timer related tale from the same source.
As busy parents of two young (at the time) children my friend and his wife decided to get ahead of the game regarding the following evening's meal. After the children had gone to bed they prepared a a chicken casserole, placing it in the oven and setting the timer to come on the following afternoon at about 2pm so it would be ready to serve up when they arrived home from work/school run etc. (I suspect you can all see what's coming!!).
After a fitful night's sleep, in which he dreamt of being rescued from drowning in a huge vat of chicken casserole, my friend awoke to his 6am alarm and to the glorious smell of a beautifully cooked chicken casserole wafting up the stairs.
You've guessed it. They'd set the oven to come on at 2am instead of 2pm and his dream of a casserole related demise was the by-product of the aroma of the nocturnal cooking spree.
So at 6:15 am he ate a hearty breakfast of chicken casserole before heading into work.
Which all just goes to show that even though you may be a software engineer it doesn't necessarily follow that technology is your thing!!!

At least they did not risk to die of food poisoning. I would never leave a raw chicken so long in the oven. As a general rule, raw chicken can be used if left out of the refrigerator under two hours, less if the temperature is over 75 F (about 24 Celsius).

What a story! I have never used a timer on my stove but if the truth be told, he is lucky it was cooked while he slept because Chicken is an iffy product and sitting out of the fridge for that long could have caused a few sick stomachs.

They got a good meal out of it at least. Who would say no to a chicken casserole in the morning? I don't eat break fast much but if this is the case I will!

@WorDazza I just like to eat. I don't cook much unless I really need to.

Chicken casserole for breakfast sounds yummy! I've attempted the vegetarian route several times in the past but in the end it's meat for me.

@blitzfrick I doubt they'll have too much empathy!
I have actually found it surprisingly easy being vegetarian. I suppose if I'd tried it 30 years ago it wouldn't have been so easy but there's so much good stuff in the shops now. I don't know if you have the 'Linda McCartney' range in the US but they do some fantastic meat substitute products. The 'Pulled Pork' burgers and Hoisin 'Duck' are absolutely incredible.

@WorDazza Truly! It's my cross to bear. And the cross of all those animals too. I do thank them for giving up their lives, even though I don't think that really helps them when their time comes. Ah well.

Oh! I could do with a plate of that now! I've also done that before - I once set my alarm for 6 am to wake me and I overslept. It went off that afternoon at 18:00 hrs!
