Improving my Posture is my Number 1 Goal this Month

After doing sedentary work for 2 months my posture is in bad shape. I'm slouching all the time. The result of too much sitting while using the computer and writing from time to time.
Posture is important because it shows how we carry ourselves. The way we stand and walk reflects how confident we are to ourselves. It gives our presence a positive vibe and prevent us from having "little accidents", for having a good posture is having a good balance too.
For now I'm walking on heels strutting like a model to have a better balance. I learned this technique when I was in College. It helps to have a straight back too. I'm currently looking for some basic yoga poses that will help me achieve my goal this month.

@ShifaLk I will tear some ligaments if I do that. Maybe when my flexibility is much better than now.

It does for me. I use 3 inch heels and walk for 5 minutes 3 times a day. I started yesterday just walking around the house. In my experience of wearing heels, I am much aware of my body. I tried the book technique, the one that use hardbound books and not the soft kind, I feel that it only helps with my head, neck down to the shoulder part.

We should. Its good for us physically and I guess mentally too, because I won't be thinking of how I look all the time and experience the neck and back pain too.

I like to have simple and few goals a month. Things that I can really achieve. I also have a goal a day. Makes me look forward at the end of the day.

Yes. I'm trying to do yoga. I downloaded several pictures and some basic yoga videos. We don't have any nearby yoga class here in my place. I think it will be nice to try to see the perspective of other people if my pose is accurate or not or atleast not bad.

I think you can improve your sitting posture when you use the computer.
It is more important to change that, since in all likelihood we are going to use the computer for the rest of our lives.
There are many videos and articles about the correct sitting posture.
In this case, you will not get neck pain when using computer, though the eyes will still be strained.

@diosabella The best is to lean back on the chair, and then you have to push the chair in so that you are on eye level with the computer screen.
In this way, you will not have back and neck problem.

Yes. Every time I sit I always remind myself to be conscious of my sitting position. I've been slouching too much from sitting too long. I've been doing some basic yoga poses that helps me correct my posture and its doing very well too.

I miss swimming. I'm going to start running again when my posture gets a bit better.

My posture has never been good, but I've never bothered to try to do anything about it. Maybe one day I'll have to give yoga a try. I certainly won't be trying walking in heels because I hate to wear them. I've got really small feet and feel very uncomfortable in high heels.

Since I was little I have a posture problem. I'm taller than most kids in my class so I tend to stand slouchy. But in time I kind of adjust myself not to slouch when I'm standing with people that were smaller than I am. But 2 months ago I was sitting too much for work and forget. I was slouching all the time because it felt comfortable to me.

@diosabella I also tend to slouch because it's comfortable. I've got no excuse though because I'm short so I should try to appear as tall as possible.

@Gina145 I had a classmate in high school, she's very petite but she always looked tall when sitting. Her posture was pretty nice. I wish I could be like that always.

@diosabella Some years ago I burst both ear-drums which made my balance a bit suss. I tend to look at the ground to ensure I don't trip on something. But I need to straighten up.

my posture is not correct too, i tend to lean forward. my mother, when she was still alive, would tell me to place a heavy book on my head and walk because it fixes my posture.

@diosabella it is a personality task also, because now, in this jet set age, we tend to slouch even while interacting in social media, when we use the desktop, laptop, or phone.

@ridingbet I'm so guilty slouching on the sofa when I'm playing games on my mobile. My mom said I look like a lump of sack and not moving. Just the fingers she said.

My teacher in elementary taught us that too, so we could stand straight in line. At PE time she would place a book on our head and let us walk from the back of the room to the front. And she would tell us that we need to tuck our stomach a bit more and stand straighter.

That's a great goal, posture can make your clothes look better, you back feel better and even your mood.

Yeah. Clothes looks much better on me when I have a better posture. When slouching too much I don't feel confident with myself.

@Nawsheen Well Alex is much bigger than that now. I think he's a mini dinosaur. He's growing too fast and according to the person that gave him to me, that he still has a lot of growing to do. I hope God will help me and stop the growth sprout. But playing with him is a good exercise for me.

My posture is much better but I have to push more. I used to take out Alex (my dog) to walk at night. But he is so big now. I can't carry him that far if there are strays that wants to ambush us. And I think carrying him will have a bad effect on my back. So I do more aerobics at home now.
