I have a different kind of myLot goal…

I’m not going to set an earning goal of X amount of $ or such this month. Instead I’m going to see if I can reach a certain number of notifications...
Do you see the circled number in my screenshot? That’s what I have now. About 2 months ago or back on February first that number was 361 and I had thought it was impossible for me to push it beyond 400. But as you may have guessed, it wasn’t impossible after all because I’m looking at 556 now. It fluctuates daily, of course, and I had seen it to even go over 600 some days...
My goal is to try to break 700 and possibly stay on that range by end of this month. That number is the total notifications I have for the past 7 days. So if I can break 700, my daily average would be 100 notifications. I’ve read how other members receive hundreds of notifications daily, so I know it’s something that may be quite normal here. But since I have never reached that number myself, I figure it would be a good challenge for me to have. Good luck to me!

I also thought every time I open one out of whatever be the number, their number comes to zero..that makes it difficult to trace what I have already answered, and what I need to check. I often get x mentioned you in ...... then another x mentioned you in ............ when a whole bunch of same post and same member comes ...I can miss out on attending to one of those. There should be some way to prevent that...

@sishy7 No, I usually get that after three days or something depending how big of a jerk I was.

@crossbones27 Since I tend to read around a lot, I think I know what you mean... But 'a jerk' has never come across my mind about you as far as our interactions both here and on 'B'.
Hey, is that Redlands as in San Bern...? My then boyfriend used to work at the Chrysler dealer there back in the early '90s...

i am reaching more than a hundred notifications when i log out at night. i still delete the notifications that i made actions to, so the notifs remain below a hundred. i sometimes zero them out.
At long last,I was able to respond to all my notifications. This is a short - term goal for me. Few minutes ago, I had zero notifications but since I will reply...

Yes, that seems to be the way some members handle their notifications... I'm too curious of what kind of numbers I get as a total from the past week so I don't delete any and I turn on all options for all possible types of notifications I can get.

@ridingbet The system will automatically delete all notifications older than a week. So the 700 target that I'm trying to reach would only be a week worth of notifications that I received without manually deleting any. I don't think I have ever received 3-digit notifications for a day.

@sishy7 oh, i did not know that notifications reaching a week old will be automatically deleted. so, you having 700 means you are so active in the site.

Good luck! You try answering those who will guarantee get back to you or get involved in an ongoing fun interaction lol I get so many notifications from that alone crossing 100's easily (if I am active)

You're right - that would be a sure way to receive lots of notifications... My problem is I tend to shy away from the crowd and if I respond or comment at all chances are it would be on some 'quiet' discussions... Really, I hope people don't think I'm complaining about receiving a low number of notifications because I'm not... Just like I don't complain about my low earnings... I know full well why I get what I get and I only have myself to blame... Still, I like to challenge myself just to see if I can somewhat improve my own rate...

@Daljinder I think I have forced so many members to turn off their 'Likes' when they got sick and tired of me flooding their notifications...

@sishy7 Notifications of 'likes' is unnecessary anyways. Its good you forced them into turning it off.

Contrary to your goal mine is to make it zero clean. My notifications even reached more the one thousand so now I'm trying to make zero.

Wow! That's what I mean - how do people get so many notifications and therefore have to delete them to make it manageable?
I opt to receive everything that I can be notified of and never delete notifications, and still I can't get a total of 600 for a week...

@ilocosboy I like to keep mine at zero also. It makes it easier to know which ones I've responded to.

That number in brackets does not represent the true story as they get reduced over time. Atleast that is what I see

@sishy7 Hats off to you that you have a detailed explanation about how notifications present themselves. In my case I only look at the number in red. and the number in black does a song and a dance despite the red showing a huge number. sometimes.
Some love to play with numbers and you seem to one of them. Have fun (lol)

It's the total for a week's worth of notifications I get. Let's say I get in:
Day 1 = 10 notifications
Day 2 = 15 notifications
Day 3 = 5 notifications
Day 4 = 10 notifications
Day 5 = 20 notifications
Day 6 = 5 notifications
Day 7 = 10 notifications
Then that number on Day 7 will be (10+15+5+10+20+5+10=75)
Day 8 = 5 notifications
Then the next day on Day 8 that number will be (15+5+10+20+5+10+5=70)
Or I can look at it as: Total Day 8 = Total Day 7 - Day 1 + Day 8 = 75-10+5=70.
You're right, the number can get reduced but it can get increased as well. To increase it, obviously I have to consistently get above the average of what my daily number is. In my simple example, the average would be 70 divided by 7 or 10 a day. So if I keep getting more than 10 notifications a day, eventually that number will increase.
I'm sorry if this gets too long - I do get carried away sometimes when talking about numbers...

@allknowing @sishy7 can get too involved in her numbers for me to remain interested, if she was anyone else on myLot! But since it is @sishy7, I normally ride out her explanations... they aren't difficult to understand, but I bet she could confuse both of us if she really wanted to doing that! LMFAO!
I hope you are doing well today, allknowing!

Dearheart, I start panicking when my notifications go over the 150 mark, daily. (I also delete each notification as I take care of it, too, so mine will HOPEFULLY never approach that high number!)
If that is what you are shooting for, I suppose I am willing to help you reach that amount. I am adding one to your total right now. LOL!

@DaddyEvil I have yet to receive 3-digit new notifications at any given time. That's why I'm trying to get to 700 total for a week; that way I then can safely say I get an average of 100 notifications a day when I see a total of 700.

@sishy7 When I am nearing 150 notifications I am not quite so appreciative of receiving more of them, sishy! (I panicked once and started deleting them. They were coming in faster than I could reply. I know, bad boy! I couldn't help it!)

No - 700 is the total for a week's worth of notifications that I'm trying to get. Chances are I'd have already worked on them because I check my new notifications regularly. I don't delete notifications manually after I'm done with them. I just leave them on the list and they get deleted automatically after a week.

My goal is always an an icr are of 100 in my activity bar. Some days it's easy...I can find lots to comment on or reply to. Other days it seems to be a difficult slog to get more than twenty or thirty.

Yes, I can relate to that... I also watch closely how that number inside the () next to my username is moving. 100 a day is definitely hard for me. I know mine was at 19500 at the end of March. And here I am, 4 days later, it's still at 19600+ range.

@diosabella It won't if that's what other members are doing - what they do with their own notifications won't affect me at all... But if I delete my notifications after I work on them, then that will probably drive me nuts!
