Did you ever lied just to make people believe in something you believed in?

I just saw a fake news about an event, and the news paper that mention it add lots to it and took a side. I for sure know its not true. I know media do things like that for money, but people may have other goals. Do you do that same; lie about something just to make people believe your believes or your work or any of the things that you live by and stand for
I would not because we have a saying that lie has short road means that truth will be found sooner than you imagine.

No I haven't, my mom also says this same words. She says that lies will give easier path but for a very short period of time, whereas truth will lead to a tough path but that would be for a long long span. I try not to say much lies, but you know in our daily life most of us will need to depend on some lies. Like for getting late at office thought the reason was your sleep, but you say you were in a traffic. I don't feel this lies will really make someone harm. And until it harms someone is it that wrong?
