Making a List (and checking it twice)

United States
April 10, 2017 11:10am CST
Today I'm making my grocery list and since I'm getting old and forgetful I do have to check it twice. Not only do I check it twice but I have to remember to take the darn thing with me when I go to the store I keep telling myself I need to be more organized when it comes to making my grocery list and I should be writing things down as I know we need them but I don't. I always think I'll remember and that's giving myself more credit than I deserve. You would think I'd resign myself to the fact that forgetfulness comes with being older. We have a beautiful sunny day here for this Monday. Even the dogs were happy to spend a little extra time outside this morning rather than being rushed to do their business so we could get back in the house. So what's up with you on this Monday?

I also write a grocery list. I like to have an idea about how much I'll be spending before I get to the supermarket.

I never used to write a list and would just wander through the store aimlessly and be surprised when I spent more than I wanted.

@Marilynda1225 I have no clue about prices, I just buy what I want. So far I"ve never passed out at the total!

I keep a running list of what I need, as soon as I noticed that I am running low on something.

@marlina that's what I should be doing and I say it all the time. One of these days I'm actually going to go it.

I hope you get everything you need at the store! I always put my list in my purse right after I write it so I don't forget to bring it. With lack of sleep and little ones to take care of I'm lucky I remember my name half the time! Lol. Today Josiah has a check up and shots. =( Then we might be going to Dollar tree for a few things. I hope you have a great day!

I make a list, leave it on the counter or take it and never look at it...so I give up with lists.

the more you think the more space will be occupied by your thoughts. There will be no space in your hard disk (brain) to stores things which are needed most. Automatically, you forget things. Occasionally clearing the brain will work a lot in having a strong memory.

I don't think I've ever cleared my brain. It's totally clogged with all sorts of things

I always make a list and usually write things down as we run out of them or as I think that I want them. I do, however, sometimes forget to bring the list.

I have a small blackboard in the kitchen, as soon as I notice that I need something, I write it on the blackboard and then I prepare my grocery list. I only go out once a week for shopping and I want to be sure to buy everything I need, but not what I do not need.

@Marilynda1225 It works for me, if I do not write immediately I am pretty sure to forget.

I like your idea I was thinking of getting a dry erase board and putting it on my refrigerator and then write things we need as I see it.

I make lists all the time now. However I do usually manage to note down items as I run out of them.

I should be writing them down as we run out of them. It would make like easier so I don't know why I don't do it

I am the same, and once I get my list going I put it on my back door so as not to forget it, sad to say that doesn't always work either lol. I walk right out without it.

My mother used to say I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached so I guess I've been scatterbrained since childhood and here I am blaming it on old age

I write grocery lists as well. I also use the Krazy coupon lady app which is amazing it gives the ability to make lists and it has all the sales at different stores and tips for getting deals and coupons. It's amazing and a life saver. You should check it out if you haven't already.

I have forgotten my list a few times. What I really hate is when I forget my coupons. I can kind of remember what is on my list but when I forget my coupons, it's a terror.

I make lists according to the aisles and jot down what I need under each heading. Remembering the list is key! I'm loving the sun and warm temps, and have been working on keeping my Florida tan.
