Let's Crank up the Music

My husband's family is all very musical and here you see the three youngest brothers giving us a rendition of something. The pianist is the youngest and can play just about anything by ear. These three are closest in age and as they get older they get more and more alike. In the past we've done a lot of 'projects' together including laying brick paving, building patios and work-sheds, and renovating houses. Note that Vince is playing left-handed although he writes right-handed. On the piano is a photo of our bass-playing son. On the bookcase behind, but too small to see very well, are photos of our pair of ponies in an event, then Vince's deceased sister, us on our wedding day, my Mum as a young person and me with my pony.

They are. They must be even more fun if you can be a part of the music-making.

@teamfreak16 We're going to a music festival the weekend after Easter. I'd love to sit around while some of them are jamming.

@JudyEv At least of one of the two parents, because many times the parents are very different one from the other, that was my case. My father never cooked in his life, my Mom does not like to cook, but her mother was a great cook. A generation leap.

It's interesting isn't it, how children often take on the same career as their parents.

@LadyDuck In your case it skipped a generation - as you say. My brother-in-law is an engineer and two of his daughters are now engineers too.

@Ronrybs Oh well, better than bagpipes perhaps? A recorder played well is 'listenable', I'll grant you that.

@allen0187 They live too far apart, they're too old and they'd need more than a piano and two harmonicas!

I wish I had musical talent, but I just wasn't graced with that ability. My brother, on the other hand, is a musical genius and can play just about any instrument you hand him. He also can play just about anything after just listening to it once or twice.

Don't such people make you sick? (No offence to your brother!) One guy we had here could play just about any stringed instrument - and play it so well! It hardly seems fair. And the brother on the piano can pick up tunes really quickly too. I'm sure they can't explain how they do it but to me it is a real gift.
