No caller ID

Does anybody else get worried when you have a missed call on your phone and there's no caller ID?
I had one of these calls just now and only missed it by a minute or two, but they've not left a voicemail or anything. I'm in the middle of buying a house so it could be something to do with that. It just makes me paranoid and worry about who it was and I felt it was something important. I know that if it was that important, they would either call again or leave a message, but I still worry!

I´m more worried about burglars when that happens.

That's a good point!
Although this was my mobile (cell) phone rather than landline.

@marguicha oh well, lets hope not! Although they could search my new house all they want, there won't be anything in it

@Samanthaowen1991 I always think that my house is not a good choice for burglars.

@Samanthaowen1991 Yeah, same. This makes me irrationally worried, and I start assuming it is someone/something very important.

@Samanthaowen1991 Yeah, me too. I'd start checking my emails also, thinking that they might've sent me some information, as I missed their call !

I just have an ordinary, old-fashioned phone... no caller ID, no call waiting, no voicemail. Obviously, I don't worry about missed calls. If it's important, they'll call back. Even if it's not important, as in the case of the myriad calls I get for duct cleaning.

@Samanthaowen1991 Well, if it was your bank, I'm sure they'd leave a message.

Haha. Yeah I guess there's no need to worry. I'm just a bit of a worry wart! I worry more about smaller things that I can't do anything about, rather than big things that I can do something about. Funny old brain.

@Samanthaowen1991 I think you need to calm down, my friend. If it is an emergency matter, then there will be a way to get in touch with you.

Yeah, that's what I try to tell myself. I just get paranoid that it was something really important that couldn't wait!

I missed two calls yesterday from the same 1-800 number, which concerns me because I have a feeling they were calling to set up a medical appointment, but they left no message, and it bothers me that the last time they called they didn't check to see if that was okay because I'm the only person who uses this phone and I would like them to leave one if I miss the call. come to think of it, they did leave a message when they called to remind me about the last appointment, so maybe it wasn't them. About a month ago I finally emailed a collection company that had been calling with a recording of a message for somebody I've never met. They told me that my number was removed from the file, so it should be them but I don't know who else would call twice from a toll free number without leaving a message. It bothers me as well. I suggest asking your real estate agent if it were them that called, and if so ask that even the reason for calling is time sensitive they could leave you a message to let you know who it was that called so you don't have to worry about it. Things like this are terrible on my anxiety.

Oh that's frustrating. Yeah I'm sure your doctor or whoever would've left a message if it was about a medical appointment, but it's still annoying isn't it.
I finally found out who it was when they called for the third time and I was able to answer it that time - it was the company delivering my new fridge/freezer to my dad's house ready to be taken to my new house. Still not sure why the didn't just leave a message before just informing me of the time of delivery but never mind!

@Samanthaowen1991 I could see how they might need to verify that you agreed to the drop off time, but it would still be more convenient for everyone involved if they left a message and simply notified you that if they didn't hear back it wouldn't be coming at the planned time. Some people confuse me.

Sometimes it's not safe but in this case I eventually found out that it was the company trying to deliver my fridge/freezer.

Yeah that's very true, it's usually something like "we heard you had a car crash, you can get PPI" or whatever.

I found out who it was eventually - the company trying to deliver my new fridge/freezer to my dad's house ready to move into my new house!

Worrying would only make you feel worse. If it was really that important they would have called again or left a messageI don't usually answer a call if I don't know who's calling.

See, I'm too curious to ignore the call. If I'm free to answer it, I definitely will answer. I'm too nosy haha.
