Ok so now this is what has been going on in my mind since a while now, I wanted an opinion from you guys :) which is the best preferred way to lose weight in a healthy manner, I have been hearing from a lot of ppl that weights add more of muscle to your body and hence the pounds don't get down, whereas cardio help you lose the pounds. So what's your take/opinion on this?

The first thing to do is to change your eating habits.

The exercises and the weight loss powders work only about 30%. The main thing that you have to take care is what you eat.
Try to eat more protein oriented food, rich in fiber and avoid Sugar and carbs as much as possible. (Do not complete deplete of them, Just include it in Micro level)
Also when trying to lose weight do not try the cardio....Pay more attention to HIIT sessions and try to stay hydrated.
Water is the most important factor in weight loss.

You should do both. Gaining muscle is different from gaining fat and is better for you. Lifting weights actually help you burn more calories and help you lose weight. You do gain muscle but it takes time to gain it and to lose weight. Interval/HIIT workouts are the best and do the most for the body. Plus if you don't change your eating habits then you will never lose weight or gain muscle. Weight loss is more about diet than it is working out. It's an 80/20 kind of thing. Cutting out sodas and limiting sweets and eating proper portion sizes and healthier options can do a lot more than working out can do for you without changing your eating.

I think you should mostly do cardio, along with sticking to a well-balanced diet.

I have been a little slack on exercising. I noticed that my fiance was getting slack too. I commented to him that he needs to exercise again and he said I do too. lol He gave me for Christmas a exercise book. It says that lifting weights is better. Years earlier the makers of the book said cardio was better. I think if you are doing either one is great. I was doing both cardio and lifting weights.

@pravanki It's called Women's Health Big Book of Exercises. Women's Health is actually a magazine who wrote the book.

Diet is super important and effective types of cardio is great as well. Effective exercise is conscious exercise connecting the breath mind and body. The results are way more than you could ever think!
- Check out how amazing the impacts of breathing are, and we don't even do that consciously but we expell 80% of our toxins, including fat, through the breath.
