Bahn Mi is a popular Vietnamese sandwich consisted of vegetables like carrots, cucumbers and radish, some meat balls and liver pate. This sandwich is very popular in Vietnamese restaurants and Vietnamese cuisine is starting to get mainstream in the US. So Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberge decided to have a Bahn Mi inspired burger, though it doesnt look authentic because it has Kimchi and the last time I check, Kimchi is Korean and not Vietnamese. So you may ask why people are talking about this burger? Well during the 1980's, Mark Wahlberge is kind of racist against Asians. He beaten up 2 elderly Vietnamese men for no reason. I think he got punished from those crimes but he is kind of changed. Also back in the 80's he is involved with drugs. People are not comfortable with the Idea of him adding a Vietnamese inspired dish on his restaurant because of the hate crimes he did in the past against two Vietnamese men.It is kind of awkward he is trying to make money out of something Vietnamese inspired when he use to hate Vietnamese people for no reason. Can a racist person change? Wahlberge is friends with Pacquiao who is Filipino... So I guess he is nicer to Asians now.

I see him on commercials now for AT&T (I think) - I don't know why they would choose him to represent them. Beating up 2 elderly men no matter what race they were is just terrible. He definitely had a troubled past. Bahn Mi is popular now . . . so is he doing it to show he has had a change of heart - or for getting more profits? And kim chi in it . . . really???

@CaptAlbertWhisker I guess that would fall into the "fusion" category - but still that's a little weird. So you've eaten at this place? I didn't even realize he had restaurants - wonder if there's one in CA.

I know Banmi is French influenced Vietnamese sandwich and not a Korean sandwich. So yeah it is weird to see kimchi on it. Yes Bahn Mi is becoming popular in the us.

Yes I believe a person can change. It was still a crime though what he did in his youth.

Oh, this is a bad news for one of my favorite actor. I hope by now he has overcome his being a racist. And it's good he is friends with Pacquiao.
