A Modern Woman

I hear you say you want to bed me,
well first of all you'll have to wed me,
let's get things straight right from the start
here are some things that I'll impart.
A woman's place is in the kitchen?
now that idea you must be ditching,
I may be there, but sipping wine,
as I make sure that you're in line.
My only role now in the kitchen,
is with my feet up, nose a-twitching,
supervising, overlooking,
while you, my man, do the cooking.
You must be nice to my old mother
and not complain when she stays over,
we may have a child or seven
don't you think that would be heaven?
And with your pals please don't go drinking
it's nicer home with me I'm thinking,
at the weekends we'll go shopping
not for you in armchair flopping.
If to these rules you are agreeing
then I'll consent your wife to being,
wedding dress I will start sewing,
HEY, COME BACK - where are you going?
I'm all for equality, but this woman is not satisfied with that - she wants domination (he only wanted a fling). Do you know anyone like her?

Ha good one, Janet. My sisters ex used to do the cooking and shopping but I found out when she divorced him that it was because he was controlling and didn't trust her to shop with his money or something. She had to have the house perfect when he came home from work everyday. She couldn't even leave one or two dirty items in the sink but had to clean them up. She didn't have to work, but still...
Most women like that don't lay it down on the line before they wed but he finds out little by little as the years progress. It could be possible that she's had to lay down the law, though, because she found he wouldn't do a darn thing otherwise.
Oh, and almost forgot love that image you found.

@MarshaMusselman I'd hate to live with a controlling man like your sister did, but a controlling woman is just as bad. Marriage is a partnership, isn't it?
The image is fun, I used it once before.

@BelleStarr That's the trick Isabelle - control them without letting them know!

hahahaha! so funny reality of life. it happens here.
i believe the woman to get married should understand her place in the house- to assist her man, and not dominate him.

@ridingbet Yes, neither should dominate the other ideally

@jaboUK that is why here in my country, there is such a term as "under-standing husband", which means the husband is standing under his wife's skirt.

I usually spare my husband the burden of shopping with me. My sister and I have a lot of fun shopping together. When we have to drag our husbands along they usually cost us more money. They load the cart up with things we don't usually buy. LOL

Ha Ha Ha...love these fun poems of yours
Domineering she certainly was
Good he ran away, because
He'd have to dance to her every whim,
And in the chores she set out for him
He'd be neck deep without a pause.
So he decided it was better to be
Single, footloose and fancy free
Till he finds a woman who would be his equal
Then the story'll have a happy sequel
And then they'd both live contentedly
Know both domineering men and women in real life.

@responsiveme I do love it when you take the trouble to compose a reply in rhyme, thanks Arundhati. Yes, people like her do exist I'm afraid, and men do the same thing too.
