Should I say Yes or No

The past few weeks have been really exhausting for me. Apart from my kids the one person troubling me to the max was my domestic help. Literally she has made me cry. I couldnt even login to mylot for three whole days. Taking an off every other day without even informing was something that I couldn't very well adjust to. She made it very clear from her actions that she wasn't very keen to work for me anymore. And as far as I am concerned I am not very happy too in doing the dishes and cleaning stuff. These two household chores take a big chunk of my time of the day. So I have been thinkig to buy a dishwasher. I am not sure as to what amount of work it will take off my plate. I just don't want to invest that much amount on something which might not prove to be as helpful as I am expecting. Do you use a dishwasher? Is it really efficient? Should I go for it or try to find another domestic help? PS: I hate doing the dishes.

I never had a dishwasher. I would rather do the dishes myself. For as long as I have gloves, then I have no problem doing the dishes. Now if you hate this job, you better just get another maid who is better than the first.

I too used gloves at first but I didn't feel comfortable with them. My hands get all sweaty so I don't like using them. Good for you that gloves don't bother you.

I never had a dishwasher so cannot really comment on its usefulness. I think it is better for you to get another domestic as you stated it is not only the dishwashing that you do not like but cleaning also

@Blushandglow i know how bad and tirin it can feel like when you have to do all this work by yourself. Getting a dishwasher might help. I hope that she proves to be a good maid and someone you can rely upon

Right thanks. I got one maid today and she seems to be good. But I am also buying a dishwasher this weekend incase this maid also goes crazy and starts to trouble me. I don't want to be in that situation ever again. It was a terrible period.

I guess you don't have to consider the costs of operating a dishwasher if you can pay domestic help. And by the way, you should fire her, there is no reason to treat you like that! I love having a dishwasher and wish I had one. They clean the dishes very well, better than doing them by hand, and even sanitize them. You have to buy special soap but it's not much more costly than regular dish soap. They use a little extra electricity but you won't worry about that. All in all, I would say get one. One of the best things is that you can load it as the dishes get dirty and you don't have dirty dishes sitting around in the sink or on the counter. Since I don't have one, that's what my kitchen is like and I hate it! I think you would be very happy with a dishwasher!

Thank you so much for the encouraging words. I can already visualise myself using a dishwasher and a clean kitchen all the time. I wasn't sure about buying but now I guess it's worth taking a shot.

Your helper , is making you stressed . Better let go of her. Yes, maybe you should buy a dish washer, because you hate washing dishes. Yes, definitely, look for another helper. Pray for it, so you will get a good one already.

Luckily I got a new maid today itself. I am hoping she turns out to be good for me and works as expected. But buying dishwasher is a done deal now. Don't want to be helpless again, ever.

@Blushandglow how young are your children?

Nope. There is just me, my husband and the kids. So I am the only person responsible for the chores if my maid ditches.

I haven't got a dishwasher - you still have to clear the plates and then load them into the dishwasher, then take them out again. So there's still quite a bit of work involved. I would get another maid if possible.

I tried that first. But in every way I end up being the one who is compromising on time, money, the work, etc. So I was kind of hoping that a dishwasher could save some of my time and lessen my burden a little bit. I think I should try for another maid.

It's OK. Most of the people I am asking are saying no for it.

Well, it depends. Do you like having some domestic help around? Also you would still have to load the dishwasher and gather the dishes and do the rest of the cleaning.

A dishwasher would only take care of the dishes. What about the other household chores?

Till the time I don't find someone I guess I will have to do it myself. It's just that I was hoping that a dishwasher would just take away some of my load. So I was kind of hoping to clear my doubt whether or not to go for the dishwasher.
