Ever have the rug pulled out from under you?

That's an expression many of you have probably heard. According to Freedictionary.com it means to suddenly take away support from someone. The rug is going to be pulled out from under us soon, plans go in place today to start that process.
We have hardwood floors and they are badly scratched from Ruby. These are maple floors and should not look like they do. We are convinced they were not finished properly. Our last home had oak floors and in the five years we lived there Ruby did not scratch them at all.
We brought two area rugs with us from that previous home, one for the living room and the other in our master bedroom. The hall between those two rooms is Ruby's take off and and landing strip and it shows the most amount of scratches.
Today an old friend in the carpet business will be here to hopefully solve some of our hardwood issues. We plan on getting wall-to-wall in the bedroom, hall and living room. This will cover a good majority of the scratches. I am not a fan of these hardwoods, so the more we can cover the better I will like it.
Hopefully soon we will have the area rugs pulled out from under us and wall-to-wall will replace it.
Since this house is 90 percent wood inside (floors, walls, ceilings) it needs some to break up some of that wood!
Photo is mine.

@LadyDuck We both enjoy TV, but different shows, so two tv's is a marriage saver!

I think the carpet will also help with noise control - there is nothing to absorb it! Maybe he will play his TV at a lower volume, I hope.

@AbbyGreenhill I'm a barefoot girl too. I love carpet, but like the look of hardwood floors too. We have oak floors in West Virginia and we are debating about covering them or refinishing them.

We have had wall to wall carpet for years and years. We always liked it especially when the kids were young.

This is the first house I ever lived in that didn't have some wall-to-wall. The buy coming later owns a carpet outlet in Dalton, GA.

I like carpet far better and it will contain Ruby's hair instead of it flying all over.

These floors are only 6 years old. If not for the dog they would be perfect.

@AbbyGreenhill Maybe Ruby should have had slippers.

Some that will hide Ruby's hair! LOL Probably something close to what is in the photo...not a solid color but variations of beige I think will hid it better.

We too had our entire home stripped off the carpets save the formal drawing room. We love our cherry wooden flooring now.
Nice seeing you Abby once again after my long absence.

I love the hardwood floors but I like carpet in the bedroom, make the room warmer in the wintertime to me.
Yes for the dogs nails to scratch them they did not apply enough layers of the clear coat, that is what protects the wood.

I know what protects the floors and that's why I know they were not done properly. It's a shame they skimped considering how much wood there is. Our wood floors are never cold in winter, but the tiles in the bathrooms are!
