YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE.

Have you thought about what you would do in the event of a World War 111? Many of us were not around to experience the hardships inflicted on humanity during World Wars 1 and 2. - but we have an idea of what it was like through stories from our parents and grandparents, books, documentaries and movies. We know of the blackouts, bombed out buildings, food shortages, drafting , massive loss of life etc.
With the far advanced technology that we have today- a world war now would have a much shorter duration I should think -- but no less deadly . I just hope that major countries in the world will use all the diplomacy necessary to avoid another one.
What would I do in the event of a World War 111? Well I may try to convince my family and close friends to accompany me to inhabit one of the 200 odd very large deserted islands dotted along the coast in my country of birth. There is no shortage of food on those islands--but one may have to battle snakes for turf.
On second thought I think I would stay right here and face whatever comes. There is a saying - "You can run, but you can't hide".
What would you do?

Nothing seems right in the world today. India is going through its own crisis. A party with no opposition per se is showing up its ugly head - worse than a possible world war III

@Kandae11 It is very weak. This party that is coming up is taking the country by storm.

Like you I would try to live somewhere like you mention.
Not to exactly run but to find somewhere where we could all live and learn from each other how to survive.
I feel we need to learn how to do survival courses of some kind also.

Yes I can see what you mean.
But I really hope they will come to their senses and not allow all that.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I think they realize how disastrous it would be therefore they just might tread very carefully.

One thing about that war is that it is coming. When it happens, I can only hope to be prepared. No there will not be any hiding from it. It will be devastating, and loss of life will be huge. As for duration, I don't expect it to last very long either.
For more on that war - read Revelation.

My opinion is that it wouldn't be another world wide war because the great powers have atomic and nuclear bombs and if a world wide war will be that means to use that bombs and that means to destroy everything even the human race and that's not possible...

Where I am living right now..honestly, would probably be the safest place. No one cares about places in the middle of nowhere. I am very close to a nuclear plant which could be a potential target, but then again..it too is in the middle of nowhere..not a place anyone is likely to strike. I don't think it runs any huge power grid, however, it is a question I should discover I guess. We have iodine pills as an antidote.

As I've gotten older I've changed my plans from "bugging out" to sheltering in place. I have a month's worth of food and water stored for my family. Unfortunately, my house is not very secure. It has large windows facing the street that anyone could break and thus enter the house. But I figure if it's that bad I don't really want to live through it anyway.
I tend to think we won't have a WWIII in the conventional sense. I think the U.S. will be fighting a battle within its own borders against terrorists that have been here for quite awhile. Our electricity grid and water supplies are woefully antiquated and not at all secure so we may be facing power and water loss once those terrorists decide to get serious.
Where were you born?

@Kandae11 That's a very wise thing to do. Here in the states there are hurricanes, too, and people just don't seem to realize that they need to prepare. Grocery stores are sold out in hours because people don't plan for the future.
I've heard of Guyana and just looked at some photos, it certainly looks like a beautiful country.

@dragon54u It is. It has gold, diamonds and they recently found huge amounts of oil - however full production won't happen till around 2020.

In Guyana, South America - it borders Brazil, Venezuela and Surinam. I think those who have the space should go into planting of fruits and vegetables. One thing I hate is to not be prepared. Here in the Caribbean we know that there are certain thing we must take care of when a hurricane is forecast - it is something we deal with every year. We stock up on canned foods, batteries, candles, water, first aid items, etc. I think I will begin to do that for other purposes as well.

If the war is nuclear we won't have to do anything, we'll all die.

I think if there is a next war that effects me it will kill just about everyone and we won't have to worry about it. It won't be just big bombs, it will be Nuclear and that part will kill all humans. I hope our 100 day president never pushed the button but he is very scary... Your beautiful islands will be covered with radiation just like the rest of the world.

I don't think about the possibility of World War 3 until someone mentions it and makes me think about it. I prefer to not to think on it.
