What can you buy for $1

Can you name items at your local shops that cost approximately $1 each? The things that come to my mind would be: a pint of milk or juice, a 100 grams chocolate...

1 us dollar is now equal to 50.21 philippine pesos. you can buy 1 cup of steamed white rice for 10 pesos, and 1 cup/small bowl of viand (chicken, pork, fish or veggie dish) for 35 pesos for a total of 45 pesos only.

@IreneVincent most filipinos eat rice for lunch and dinner. but i notice that more and more don't want to cook anymore and prefer to buy cooked meals. we have so many eateries here in our neighborhood now.

That's very interesting to know. That seems like a good price (45 pesos) for a light lunch.

There is a chain here called 99 Cent Stores which have 100s of products of all types for a dollar. Plus there are Dollar Tree stores.

A few years ago 99 Cent Stores were popular here too, but the owners started selling the same items for $3 dollars without changing the name of the shop. So people stopped going there. But it was a nice thought if fallowed through. :)

I've never seen a 99 cent store that I know of. Same concept, I guess. We also have a $5 store, where every items is under $5. I like to shop there also.

A dollar is worth about 70p in the UK we can buy a pint of milk for that price and some chocolate bar is around the same price I think. I rarely buy chocolate unless it is very dark but that costs nearly £2.

At the "DOLLAR TREE" store, you can buy just about anything for a dollar, from food to diapers. Obviously, you can't purchase furniture or appliances or big ticket items, but the Dollar Tree literally sells everything from "soup to nuts." Do you have a Dollar Tree store near you?

@Alternative4 You must not live in the USA. But I understand that Dollar Tree has a web site and you can order from the site. Where do you live?

@IreneVincent I live in a small country in the Balkans. I am afraid to disclose which one as I am not sure how people`s political views can influence my friendships on MyLot. However, thanks for the info about Dollar Tree website. :)

I would get so many good pastries at this price. I can also get a bottle of milk or juice. And why not a mini burger. The list is long. But this is what I can think of right now
