We're going to have a Kitty-Moon

Colleagues who've had babies in the past few years have introduced me to the concept of the 'Baby-moon'. It's a holiday taken just before the baby comes - particularly the first baby. It's a final bit of pre-family fun before all the grunting and pushing and screaming.
We are now just 8 days from collecting our new kittens and it's very clear that they are going to severely curtail our socialising for the first couple of months. So we're going off to the Essex coast to visit friends and have our 'Kitty-moon'.

What on earth is a Baby-Moon? Seriously, you made that up just so you could have a Kitty-Moon, didn't you?!

not heard of a Babymoon before - sounds a great idea - hope it goes well as does the birth of the kittens too

@arthurchappell It has been a very long wait. I've been excited since about 10 days before they were even born.

@boiboing thanks! It was small and had to get moved last minute due to flooding (IE outside was a no go, umbrellas sure, but they would have also needed waders lol). I have my eye on a kitty, but he might get a home before we go and pick out kitteys, so shall see what we see when we go next month

Good for you. Then you'll return ready for the grunting, pushing and screaming - oh, hang on a bit, these are just kittens!

I'm entertained by your discussion about 'Baby-moon' and Kitty-moon'. I'm just wondering if there's a 'Puppy-moon'?

I've had 5 kids, including twins.. I want no part of baby-mooning. When you're that far along you can't really do much. You can barely move, you can't find a comfortable position. No, I don't want to take a holiday just before the baby comes when I can't really enjoy myself, unless it's a sleeping holiday where I can just sleep non-stop because who knows the next time I'll be able to do that!!
Of course my baby having days are long behind me now..

@boiboing every pregnancy is different. With my last 2 I was still fairly active and comfortable right up till the end. With the first and the twins I was uncomfortable very early on..

I have wondered how some of them even got permission to fly. But I guess it's generally done just before the flight restrictions kick in before they become too much like beached whales.

Hope you have a good "Kitty-Moon" then.
Have fun and even more fun when you pick the kitties up.

All the kitties in the world will soon unite demanding kitty-moons for their parents (lol)

We'll be on the opposite side of the country. But it would take a lot to get me into the sea.

no puppy moon for us now, because our puppies are already growing up to be teenage dogs.
