Do you ever stress clean?

I think that there are a lot of unhealthy ways to deal with stress. I think that cleaning is a productive way to deal with stress and it keeps our homes organized and the way we want it. I have found that when there is a lot of things going on and I want to have time to think I will start to clean and organize. Cleaning and organizing can be one of those things that we can get lost in our own thoughts in. I find that I'm able to think about a variety of things and I'm also able to be productive around the home. I also at times enjoy listening to educational speeches. What do you find yourself doing when your stressed and need to think?

@sylviaowallo I too enjoy eating when I'm stressed. I have to work at organizing more instead of eating that way my weight stays where I want it.

I stress clean but I like to clean anyway so it really calms me down.

@caseyross I'm not a fan of organizing and I absolutely hate doing dishes. Yet someone has to do it so I feel productive when I feel stressed and I just start cleaning. I'm glad you like to clean. I have to work to gain that thought process and gain that attitude.

Yes, I have definitely stress cleaned. When I was worried about whether my dad had prostate cancer I chopped the bushes in front of my house down while waiting to hear! (They needed to go, they were dying. The stress just gave me the "desire" to chop them!)
I suppose that stress cleaning is better than stress eating, which I've also engaged in....

@FourWalls I agree with you. I also have done both as well stress cleaning and eating. I'm glad that you were able to chop down the bushes while you were waiting to hear the news about your dad. I hope that your dad is doing well. Thank you for sharing your experience with me.

@Judy Walking and or exercising is good to do when we are stressed. I need to go walking more. Hopefully as the weather gets nicer then I can implement walking more.

As for me, I just get myself busy doing whatever has to be done, and it can be gardening or doing art and craft projects... and doing the thinking at the same time... Not sure if I am stress free but it's better doing something then sitting there and being stressed.

@katherinerose123 You can do colouring in as it is said to be one of the ways to relax us... but from what I see, one can be more stress in doing that...

@TT I agree with you. It's so much better to be doing something than sitting around doing nothing. I would much rather keep busy. I think that I would like to work more on art projects, however I'm not very creative.

@MsToyD I'm glad that cleaning helps you with your stress as well. Journaling is a great way to deal with stress as well. I use to write however I have drifted away from it with my schedule. I hope though that I can get back to it because it really is helpful.

I do tend to clean when I'm stressed or annoyed. My husband sometimes purposely gets on my nerves I think when he wants the house cleaner. Lol.

unfortunately, shopping. Sometimes, getting in touch with friends whom I have not seen for a long time helps.

I stress clean, especially if the stuff that is piling up is adding to my stress. I've heard a phrase something like, "Cluttered desk, cluttered mind" and I can see that working in my life.

I just sit back and relax and take a deep breath for a few minutes or listen to soft music.
