NO VET, NO PET!

My friend's dog passed away in her arms last night, and she was very upset! She had previously asked what to do if a dog gets into anti-freeze on Facebook. Umm... VET!? While I have sympathy for her, I am very upset with the fact that she could have saved her dog. She made no attempts to take the dog to the vet. She KNEW that her dog had ingested anti-freeze, yet she did NOTHING! To me, that is not simply neglect, that could be considered animal abuse! I am assuming that the reason she did not take her dog to the vet was because she couldn't afford it. That is the case in a lot of pet owners. They want to have the company of a pet, but can't afford to take proper care of them. If you can't afford a vet, you don't need a pet! PERIOD! Okay... end of rant.

first thing that comes to my mind is, could the incident with the anti-freeze have been prevented ?

Perhaps she was not supervising her dog or not keeping dangerous things out of reach. It's sad.

@Angelee_27 - exactly. because if the dog passed away due to her negligence, then i feel no sympathy towards her. just like parents of a newborn are advised to baby proof their house, so should a dog owner by dog proofing their home.

You have a point. I think it is the best way to lend her some money.
