While researching my family tree i discovered i am related to to a rich heiress to piddled away her fortune left to her by her adoptive father, and who's many marriages could be the all time record.
According to a fellow researcher Louise Agnes Strother (Born Warren) was married a record setting 26 times, so far i have only been able to confirm 10 of them on paper.
Louise Agnes was born to John Alexander Warren and Sarah Margaret Wooton, her father died in the coal mines when she was two months old, and her mother had a mental break and there 4 young children we're sent to orphanages, Louise was the lucky one to be adopted by O.D. Strother, a man whom luck and a sad twist of fate would strike rich when oil was discovered on his land, however he would die soon after, however in his will a huge chunk of his fortune went to his adoptive daughter Louise.
Louise despite being married multiple times lived a very sad and lonely life, perhaps it was having so much money that she could be happy with it, but so many married her for money and not love.
She would only have one daughter whom was also adopted, by the time Louise died over 10 men showed up to collect her fortune, however to there shock they would find many of there marriages we're not legal in the laws eyes, see as Louise traveled from state to state marrying men and leaving them, she never bothered to divorce. One man was able to collect some, the others left with nothing, the rest was given to her daughter, but after all the years of spending it away there was little to show for it.
Louise is actually the half sister of my 2nd Great Grandmother Mintie Belle (Warren) Smith, Mintie however would never see her sister again after there father John's death, so many in our family never knew the story of Louise till I, and a few other family researchers discovered the many, many news articles and letters she had left.
It just goes to show Money does not buy happiness nor does it buy true love!

Boy, was she busy! How did she have the time for all that? She must have been desperate for love that she said yes to every offer and how many of the men were fortune hunters?

Yes I really do not think she must have thought over any marriage proposal just said yes, and then left town as soon as it went bad.

@chrissbergstrom yeah, she should have visited charity works to find happiness helping the poor and join some organizations in church to meet nice people she could turn to during her miseries.

@chrissbergstrom Can you imagine if they did? And that part during the ceremony where the officiant says "if there is anyone who believes these two should not be married, speak now or forever hold your peace"? I can just see all of her ex husbands standing up!

I do not think there was many big weddings I think they were basic court house marriages for the most part

@chrissbergstrom It must have been
horrible for her never to know if men
wanted her through love or just
wanted her cash. Haha there are
good sides to being broke at times
at least I know mine isn't with me
for money!!

I so wanted to know about my family tree too. My grandfather started the research but at some point he couldn't get some information. Now coming to your discussion - I feel so sorry for Louise. She couldn't find the perfect partner. Well sorry to say but the men she married too seemed greedy. Even though she had already left them they were claiming to get her property

Well she was given up for adoption at a very young age, separated from her family, when she did meet her full siblings later in life they did not want to keep contact, i don't think she was a easy person to get close to, her own adopted daughter said she was never really a mother she just had maids taking care of her, her daughter never had a dad, and she never met majority of the men her mother married as she lived in different places and her daughter stayed back in her hometown being raised by maids and nannies, and then shipped off to boarding school.

That's strange . She kept on leaving and marrying in search of love. I am surprised to know that she didn't find love from any of her husbands. I think she might also lacking something in herself as she could find someone suitable for her.

You aptly summed up the moral of Louise's life story. I wish it wasn't a true story.

Sad but very true, the only thing in question is the exact amount of time, as one man wrote in his book it is 26 times, but i have only been able to confirm through marriage records 10 of those.
