There are so many idol worshippers in the history of the world. Even today there are lots of idolaters.
There were even those iconoclast who destroys images used in religious worships.
One need to be an iconoclast in order to destroy too much idolatry of one self...

@louievill That's good, but the main point of the discussion or thrust of the topic above all else, is to destroy too much worship of one self or idoltary of oneself. Some people even consider themselves as "gods".

yeah...Nice topic and you're right.God is one.But creating a human like idol based on their wish which creates an image of God as a companion, a guide or mentor, a friend, a protector, a giver, a fellow being and so on.
For example, you're holding a photograph of a loved one in your hands and see the person even though it is just some paper and some dots. No one will spit on, or defecate on, or deface the picture of someone they love, because they are not seeing some random dots on photographic paper, they are seeing their beloved.
yeah...the same logic applies here.

I don't know about that, or what you mean exactly, although I do know that not only can one have idols like ones in certain churches, but many things in our lives can be idols. If we can recognize when we've allowed something to take precedence in our lives it is good to smash them to pieces. Not sure that a person would need to be an iconoclast in order to do that.
One common idol is money. Not that it is for everyone, but it probably is for more than we'd guess. Other material things can become idols to people even people that don't intend to allow anything to take preeminence in their worship of God.

I worship only God, I don't worship idols. It is against our faith.
