Smell after the rain

As much as I might be tired of the rain, I will admit that the smell of the air after it rains is so nice. I really do enjoy the smell of it. I'm not sure what it is, but there's just something about the smell that I do enjoy.

I've noticed a lot of times, especially in the spring and summer, that there is a strong, funny smell after it rains. Sometimes it is a good smell, and sometimes it is unpleasant. What causes this smell?

Here we just had rain too and smell of rain just lovely. Years ago I used to walk in the rain especially in summertime - no umbrella of course!

Sometimes, it can be nice to walk in the rain. My girls were out in the rain a little bit yesterday and were having a blast. No umbrella. Just rain coat and rain boots.

It rained here for almost 3 days straight non stop and I love rain. I love the sound of it and the smell of it but it does sometimes put a damper on things. I mean it's a very earthy smell and it makes things seem new and fresh.
