The connection between William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian

Fletcher Christian might be a name that some of you will recognise. As a young adult, he became master's mate on the HMS Bounty, seizing command of the ship from Lieutenant William Bligh during a mutiny on a voyage from Tahiti to the West Indies. The incident has been the focus of several Mutiny on the Bounty films.
Christian and some of the mutineers eventually settled on Pitcairn Island where, one by one, most met their deaths.
What I found interesting is that he was born near Cockermouth, England, which was the childhood home of William Wordsworth the poet. They both attended the Cockermouth Free School although Christian was some six years senior to Wordsworth.
The photo shows a nice little statue which we saw in the town.

He was a brazen one aye?
I have not heard of him Judy.
What an adventure he must have had on the island albeit short lived.
Oh he was born in the same place as Wordsworth..interesting.

There is history on every block in the UK. I have been to Capt Bligh's grave in London.

Being so new to all these places we were always coming across a sign and being gob-smacked (terrible word that but very descriptive!). In Vienna we came across a church where Handel had been Kappelmeister. It just seemed really bizarre for some reason - that we were crossing a threshold where he would have walked dozens of times.

@JudyEv - That is interesting. They may have known each other during their lifetimes. Fascinating.

@JudyEv - You are right that the age difference may have caused them not to know each other. However, the community was a small one, so possibly they did. Interesting.
