What are some of your happiest moments in recent years?

It's easy for me to come up with happy childhood memories: my Auntie taking me out into the ocean when I was about 4-years-old, dipping beneath the waves in her arms and poking back into the sparkling sunshine, laughing; my dad showing off my piano playing ability to his adult friends when I was six; having a really good first grade teacher who made me love math. But sometimes, I like to reflect on more recent happy memories. This photo is from my previous kid job at a mother-and-child drug rehab in Oakland CA. I was the kid psychologist there, and the kids and I were "in the zone" that summer. We planted corn, sunflowers, and several other veggies. Our garden really "took off." This photo includes some of my favorite kids of that era, sitting behind our "corn field" when the corn was abut 1 1/2 feet tall. I do remember savoring the moment, and hoping that the kids would remember it too. Do you have some recent happy memories that stand out? I was thinking of saying memories that don't involve sex, drugs, rock 'n roll, or giving birth. But then I might lose a few responses.

All the kids are beautiful. One of my happiest moment in recent years, a trip on a boat on the lake with our niece. The stop at a small local restaurant and a long walk back home in the middle of the vineyards and olive trees.

Sounds great! The vineyards and olive trees paint a pretty picture. And make me hungry and thirsty.

I have had 2 actually. The days I did a "for sale by owner" on two houses. Seeing excitement that they would be home owners and neither had good credit and no one giving them a break in life. Both single parents. One lady with an adult retarded daughter and a man other with 4 little boys. That made me happy to see them happy. Still does.

A nice one, and quite out of my field of experience (except for the giving a shot to people who've had it rough part).

I am happy when I wake up in the morning - and that moment when I put the finishing touches on a portrait I am doing of someone - and it looks picture perfect.

@Kandae11 It's a good thing to have an outlet. Does doing art become like meditation for you at times? That's how I see loudspeaker restoration.

That sounds great! Have art as an outlet is such a good thing! I just restore things to how they were. Sometimes I wish I were more creative (in the visual world--I like my songs).

Surfing on an empty beach during a beautiful sunrise a few weeks ago. There were only 3 of us there we had the beach and the waves to ourselves!

That sounds like a great one! I tried surfing in Santa Barbara. But I wasn't very good at it. I like being aline (or almost alone) in a beautiful place.

My Auntie's favorite times are when her great-grandchildren visit. I can hear it in her voice when we talk on the phone.

I have been trying to enjoy every day lately. Last year I was so depressed I went to the emergency room on my birthday. Needless to say, the concerts I go to provide plenty of happiness (and most of them are not rock and roll, so they count! ). Going to the Smokies last year, before the fire, was a real treat.

Sorry life just goes on and recently even though life is not bad the really awesome moments have been few and far between but I manage to find something good and something to smile about every day. Really great photo there.

That's a great picture! You have some great memories to treasure. Recent happy memories that involve other people - I went to a mother/daughter/friend banquet with my friend from Writer's Guild. It was a lot of fun. My friend called Bingo and I got a few prizes. Everyone did. Then there was this weekend. My daughter called to ask me if I could teach her to sew. That made my day. I also had a good Mother's Day. I heard from all my children and my youngest stopped over before he went to work.

I missed this back when. What a lovely photo. There has been a few times when I've thought 'I need to take special heed to remember this moment'. One was my last ride on my pony before I got married as I knew life would never be quite the same again. I can still see the farm spread out below me from the hill where we'd stopped for a moment.

That's a good one. I remember my last ride on my horse. And a few others. But I'd better not get started.

The last happy moment I remember recently is cycling with my eldest daughter - only me and her and nature - riding as if there is no one around and no tomorrow ...
