Gents, have you lost your beloved boxers?
Ladies, have your knickers been nicked?
Yesterday I spied some tiny red knickers on the ground, betwixt my bus stop and my work place. They were the sort of pants {British pants, not American} that skinny ladies can get away with wearing. No support whatsoever. My bottom would be jiggling like a jelly if I wore them! I decided it was a bit strange, but that pathway is probably rather dark and quiet at night; maybe some amorous couple had become a bit frisky on the way home from the pub.
Five minutes later I spied some boxer shorts! Well. The mind boggled.
I didn't really think much more about it, but as I was leaving work I spied yet another pair of boxer shorts, a further five minute walk from the other pair.
So, if you have lost your undergarments I can happily point you in the right direction. They will be clean as it has been raining. Maybe somebody had a hole in their bag as they returned home from the launderette. Perhaps there's an underwear thief. A squirrel?! It's possible that it was just very windy and they flew there from someone's washing line. I'm hoping it's some sort of art installation. That would be rather nifty ... I may be the only person who's realised.
They were there again today.

How strange....All those explanations may well explain it but my mind still boggles.
There was an underwear thief in our neighborhood long back he made sure he didn't leave a trail.

I think it's possibly a bit too open and public for that. Probably teenagers; there's often broken bottles along there.

Maybe they flew off the washing line.
Maybe they did not put enough pegs on them to stop them flying off and start everyone wondering what on earth was going on.
Got a few great stories in my head of things like that that happened ages ago now.
But they were very funny indeed.
That has made me smile.

Years back a whole batch of underwear vanished into thin air and they wanted to know who had "nicked" them.

@poppylicious I really do object to happening across people's under things in public places. My cousin once emptied the contents of her husband's under thing drawer out of the window when she discovered that he had a fleusy on the go. For months several brightly coloured items blew merrily in the breeze where they had become entangled in the branches of a tree.

I did think about doing my bit and tidying it all up, but the thought that people may have been wearing them just before they were discarded did put me off quite a bit!

Maybe it's the phantom knicker-picker, stealing 'smalls' off washing lines (we used to have someone like that around when I was growing up).
What always makes me wonder is when you see an odd she - I mean surely you would notice that was missing wouldn't you?

@Poppylicious If it's a school shoe then I suspect some unfortunate victim has had their shoe pulled off and thrown out of the school bus window. Otherwise though I really don't know!

I'm always intrigued by the odd shoe at the sides of main roads. Nothing but a shoe. How do they get there?

That is strange!
But it brings to mind an incident that happened to me.
Years ago, I was moving and my son was helping me with his pickup truck. His wife was along too. We were all very busy carting boxes and furniture out to his truck. I noticed that he'd loaded my little chest of drawers (no pun intended, as I kept my undies in one of those drawers) into the truck with the back of the chest up against the cab of the truck. This left the unsecured drawers facing the traffic behind the truck.
When we arrived at my new home, the top drawers of the chest were empty. You guessed it all my undies were scattered along the highway! I was so embarassed! 
My son suggested we go back along the highway and pick them up, but I said no thanks. I mean what if someone recognized me doing that... what on earth would they surmise?
The best thing about it was that I got to buy all new underwear.

That's a very positive outlook ... unfortunately all I can see in my mind's eye now is a butch and bearded homeless chap wearing the skimpy red knickers! Not a pretty sight!
