I always help him out though it seems like he is taking advantage of my silence

He is my family and even more close as friends and that's why he has always confined with me whenever he has any financial constraints.I do help him where I can but his promise of paying me back when he gets his salary. But on getting paid,he first avoids me for about a week only to come back paying me only a fraction of what I had given him, asking me to bear with his situation. But even when he knows that he still owes me something,he still comes around asking for more. Its the silent me because I never bother asking him when he is gonna pay up and I guess maybe he is gonna question himself someday.

@waflay I think, you need to say "NO" to him.Don't let yourself be used by selfish persons.

I think you are right. This guy has been like a parasite, and he has no remorse to what he does to me. A little on my side will work... at least to give him a hint that life is not that easy and he thinks.

@waflay Exactly. He's a parasite surviving on your earnings and using you to grind his own ax. You need to be firm and show him you are not ready to be used any longer.

@else34 well said. That is the way to go... I'm gonna wait for him to come with another story, and see how he will take my answer. Thanks..

Well he knows you will keep giving him the money until you stop giving him the money maybe he will think about repaying you before he ask you again.

I think the family member is abusive to your kindness. It shouldn't be, my friend.

@Shavkat It will be fun--- looking in his cunning eyes and say 'NO'. A nice lesson for him to learn and hopefully it will remind him that my generosity has limitations.

He has a tongue that can extract a penny from your mind. He is someone you can't, almost, can't deny something if you happen to have the thing that he want. I guess you understand such like people.

Sometimes "No" works better than "Yes".

you are too generous to him and he might have seen it as your weakness and take advantage of your kindness. He did this to you without thinking of it may annoy you, you can refuse him the next time he ask money from you and ask him to pay back your money .

I guess he is just too ignorant to think that am not noticing what he has been doing to me.Its just a matter of time before I deal with his unfair character.

I don't know for how long he will be coming to me for assistance. I guess his mind can't register something like 'enough is enough' and start paying back what he owes me. Is is sad that whenever I go to him for assistance, he is always prepared to say something that turns me off from my main intention. Maybe, I am too soft in heart or maybe he is just too good with his word-sway.
