Is the younger generation more influenced by their friends than their parents?

Well.. It differs from family to family. I have a friend who is very close with her parents. She shares everything with them. But I am not close with my parents, I can't tell them everything about my life because.. I know they won't understand. My parents are really strict and it's hard to talk to them about anything. Half of the time we are afraid of how they'll react.

I do not think so..It depends on your parents just like mine , when I was young I really wanted to have a chat with my mother, tell her my feelings at school, show her that I exist but she was too busy in her own matters but I understand her because we are a big family it is really hard to send us all to school too much work needed to survive so, I think that is the reason most kids are trying to forget about home and give time with their friends

I agree with the notion that parents have a great role regarding this matter...but in this competitive world, parents are getting busier. So they are unable to spend much time with their children. There are very few fortunate who get much of their parent's time and care.

Well there are all kinds of people, some are more influenced by friends while some by their parents, it depends on the individual preferences

the present generation is learning many things from their friends than from their parents. This is a good development.

I agreed, but there is a negative side also. If they have good company, then ok ... otherwise many problems can be raised!
