our president signed this new law or bill? against smoking on public places and i am quite glad he did. But when i read some of it, some parts were quite confusing to me. All i got was strictly no smoking in hospitals, schools and places where food is prepared.. and no selling smokes to underage kids too. But i think this is already implemented even before. I guess the only change is that people can no longer smoke in public vehicles now, i hope the enforcers will be strict on this since i really hate inhaling smoke

Well it is true that smoking on public places are long time prohibited but most people did not took it seriously since there are no eyes around to give penalties..It is really hard for people who have health problems and taking public transportation..I remember a jeepney driver smoking while driving ..No heart at all ..and an old lady asked him to stop smoking in a soft tone, but instead of following her he gone mad and said if you want a no smoke place better take a taxi..

Smoking in public places has been banned in South Africa for a long time too, and surprisingly most people do take it seriously even though I've never heard of penalties being enforced.

@m_audrey6788 I wish they took traffic laws as seriously. There are a lot of really bad drivers around here, and many people think it's fine to talk on their cellphones while driving.

Here in the US smoking has been banned from nearly all indoor spaces, even in your own car in some states if you have a child in the car with you.

I also think this is a good thing. Actually here it is also prohibit to smoke in public but the problem is some people still smoke in some restaurants. It is not easy to punish them.

@lady1993 Yes, I think serious punishment may be helpful to avoid it.

@lady1993 I wish that they would never sell the cigs in the first place. Kids over here about twelve have got the habit already.

@lovinangelsinstead21 We have many kids here who smoke now too no matter how much tax they place on vices, people still come up with a way to buy them and even prefer them over real food

I know, maybe the implementation is what's lacking I still see some people smoking beside the NO SMOKING sign which is quite stressful, i'll take a picture of them next time

i haven't read it yet but in Davao(even before he became the President), you can't smoke anywhere. there are only designated areas in public to do so..

In my county here in Missouri, its been banned in most public places for quite a few years. You can go outside away from buildings some distance and smoke if no one complains but that is about it.
