A man shoudn't cry is what I often heared. Is not crying at all the measure of a true man? Is it unmanly for a man to cry? Is it cowardice for a man to cry? What is the true measure of a man and woman for that matter?

I don't think it makes a man any less if he happens to cry a few times in his life. True measure of any man or woman is that we are human and realize it.

Boys do cry. They have a low level of progesterone like girls.

@enlightenedpsych2 I think crying is still associated with pain or joy. Our thalamus can interpret these external stimuli and give impulses of what reaction we can do. Some Asian countries claimed that boys don't need to cry because it shows that they are weaklings.

I would like to think the day`s of it being a shame for a man to cry are gone , I would worry about anyone who was unable to feel or demonstrate their emotions

Gender comes late first of all we all are humans possessing every emotion.Everybody has the right to express his emotions freely. It doesnot matter what the gender is and no man becomes less manly just for crying.I consider him brave who has the courage to show his sentiments openly.

Just because a man cries, he isn't a man already. Actually, the men who cries are the real man. It means that they have feelings too and can commiserate with a sad situation.

I think that "boys/men don't cry" is malarkey. On the contrary, I think that if a man cries, it shows he has a heart, and that he has the strength to show that he does. A man who will cry (for the right reason) is truly strong.
