Church and a Maze

My son went to church with me this morning, which was totally fantastic. What wasn't so fantastic was getting to his trailer and then to church. Finding an acceptable route was fun.
Today was the Cellcom Marathon. It started at 7 this morning and was still going at noon. I got to his trailer to pick him up okay. It was getting from his trailer to church that was the fun part. I ended up taking the highway, because all other routes were unacceptable.
Then getting him back to his truck, which was parked across a road that was closed for construction was even more fun. He thought the marathon was over by the time church was over. It wasn't. Church got out at 10:30 I got him to his truck by 11:30 going through so many different turns it would have made a rat dizzy as it goes through its maze. Then it was my turn to get home.
Thinking I could do a straight shot down one of the streets, I confidently made my way down a main road, only to find it blocked by police cars as the runners came through, and found myself turning a couple more times before I found a street that would get me home in relatively short time. I got home at noon. An hour and a half to get from church, dropping my son off, and getting home.
In a couple more weeks, we'll be doing it all over again for the Bellin Run, which is the sister to the Boston Marathon. It's run by the same organization. So once again I'll be finding a good route to church and home again. Now that my son knows where the church is, he can drive himself.
After church there was a farewell party for the head of the Sunday School department. She will be leaving on Saturday for Bible College for a year. At least getting to the pizza place didn't involve traffic problems. It was also five minutes from my apartment, which was good.
While there, I met some people I haven't seen in many years. Making it a very small world as we all came together to celebrate the new step in my friend's life as she heads out to Bible College.
It was a very good day, and my son, whom I've been praying for, for many years, is going back to church. He told the pastor on his way out that he would be back next week. That made me very happy.
So it was a very good day. How was your day? Thanks for reading.

@NJChicaa I didn't care for biology so much. Mostly because I could never get the names of the birds, or any other animal right except the ones I knew. I disected a worm but missed the frog. Religion had nothing to do with that class. I think I was lucky to escape that class with a C.

Glad your son got to go to church with you. Praying that he comes to know (or returns to) the Lord in Salvation, too -- as we know going to church does not get one to Heaven.

Returning to - I agree. We had a talk a week ago and got into talking about his relationship with God and he said he would go to church with me. I thought he would forget and then he showed up at my apartment Saturday night and he asked if I would pick him up. You bet I did.

Yes it was. It made today one of the best I've had in a long time.

You gotta love this kind of weather that gets you outside in the garden. I'm trying my hand at indoor plants. I can't have a garden here, and even if I could, nothing would grow, but who knows, maybe I can do indoors what I can't do outdoors.

WE had something like that happen for a bike race and of course- I forgot all about it and ended up having to take some weird detours to get home.

@MarymargII Yes, you do, but we needed to end up in the right place. My son came by last night and said he just made it to work on time, Sunday, due to all the construction and the marathon.

@just4him Sometimes you end up in an entirely different place than you intended!
