"Is there any milkman in your country?"

When I was a child, the only person who wakes up the kid in the morning is a milkman. I remembered that the milkman delivers milk to us. Eventually, the “chocolait” was introduced. The interesting part is the Magnolia bottles are so inviting. Now, they milkman is not roaming around. It seems time runs so fast and a lot of things had changed. At present, you can have milk bottles in the supermarket. There are so many brands that you can choose from. “Did you experience having milk from a milkman?” Image Credit: s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com

Milkmen were part of my youth. Milk came in glass bottles and on top there was cream you could steal from your mom. Now webuy milk in special cartons and milk has other proccess.

@Shavkat Yes. But then, milk was processed in a different way. Now you can keep closed cartons out of the refrigerator for some months.

I agree. Milk are packed in customized cartons. I remembered that some of these bottles are being re-used and put some water in the refrigerator. During that time, milk can be refillable once the milkman came along the residents.

Not around my area anymore. In England, when I lived there, there were milkmen.

Are they being delivered with a cart? It is nice to have simple milk from a milkman.

@Nawsheen I also recalled in the lowland areas of my country. There are some bread sellers, too. We call the local bread "pandesal" or salt bread. Image Credit: www.flickr.com

I don't even think my mom had a milkman, but grandma did, I guess it is good to not have a milkman anymore, you know how much spoiled milk would happen? It would be so sad and smelly haha

I agree with you. I think if the unprocessed milk is being delivered, it should be consumed within the day.

@Shavkat And since it is very hot, someone should always been home to be able to receive it haha

I think in the local provinces, we can still have fresh milk. But we need to go to the farmland.lol That's troublesome. It has been a long time. Are you busy lately?

Before yes. He used to leave us the milk in Glass bottles and they used to make a clinking noise when he put them outside on the step. Here that does not happen at all. Like you say its all in the Shops.

@Shavkat Up until a few years ago they were doing it also around here. Now they don´t do that at all. Most Farm Land is blocked off except for workers.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I think it is nice if they have extra cash for selling fresh milk to the locals. I haven't seen it here, too. Even if I go to my granny's farmland, no one tried to offer fresh milk anymore.

It seems milkmen lost their jobs through the years. I think in some provinces, they do provide fresh milk from the farm. They don't deliver it but they ask the local people to get it directly from the farm.

When I was little milk in the towns was delivered by horse and cart. I lived on a farm and we always milked at least one or two of our own cows.

I imagined that it was like the story of "The Dog of Flanders." The life is so simple during the old days. I remembered my grandpa used to buy fresh milk from farmers in the local province.

@Shavkat Before my mother married the family had a dairy and supplied the local town. Mostly folk left out a jug or billy which Mum's brother would fill with milk. At one house there was no jug so my uncle went into the house into the kitchen, found a container and filled it with milk.

I also read that some milkmen produce not pure milk, right? I think it can be easily spoiled if not consume within the day.

@Shavkat true, here in India most of the milkmen secretly add water in the milk to increase the quantity, thereby cheating the customer and making more money. And you cant be sure of the quality of water they add.

Oh ya the time has changed a lot but at my place the milkman still comes to give us milk but it's not pure milk as it used to be in previous time. He mixes 1 part milk with 2 part water. I bought him red handed one day when he was mixing. But had no option so he is still here.

@Shavkat Yeah, we have milk men here too. I'm from a rural part of India, and we are still dependent on them. There was an old & loyal milkman we had, i liked him very much, who did the job for us for almost 16 or so years and now he retired. Another young one does the job.

@Shavkat No I live in the UK! It's not as common as it used to be but in many areas people aren't close to the shops. We also have vans that go round selling meat, fish, fruit and veg! The stuff is usually better than the stuff in the supermarkets. It's also great for the elderly or people who struggle to get out.

We used to have milkmen in this country, in fact my dad was one, but now milk is only delivered to stores. I wish I had a milkman it would be nice to have that home delivery.

There used to be a milkman when I was a kid. I liked it! My job was to put the empty milk bottles out on the back porch at night. The milkman would come in the morning, take the empty bottles and leave fresh bottles of milk. Sometimes my mom would also get orange juice.
