I have been restless since I woke up this morning. I am not quite sure why. I think it might be because I am starting to feel better. Anyway, I looked around for something to do that is not physically demanding and came upon the idea of making some homemade bread. It has been quite a while since I have done so. My husband has been mentioning it from time to time and I am thinking that now is a good time to surprise him. He loves his homemade bread and will be surprised that I made it today. He has been so good about helping around the house since I have been under the weather that I think it would be a nice thing to do. I typically make 6 loaves at a time because it goes so quickly. So, what is your day going to be like today? Are you doing anything special?

I always bake my bread, but only one loaf at a time. We both like bread, but we eat only very little bread.

@HazySue I slice the bread and place in the freezer and I take out the quantity I need for each meal and put the frozen bread a few minutes in the oven. It tastes like as fresh.

@LadyDuck Because I make it so rarely it seems to be gone in a day of so. My husbands family seems to know, somehow, when I make it and they drop in and help eat it. I will have to try slicing and freezing it the way you do.

My husband would be the size of an elephant if I baked every day, once he starts eating it he keeps eating it. I like the bread the first day, after that I typically will toast a piece but don't really eat a lot of bread. I think it's great that you always have the fresh home baked bread.

My grandmother used to make home made bread once a week or so. She also made biscuits and sometimes some sweets. I remember my Uncle would come for his visit(often just happened to show up on bread day. LOL) and he would get a thick piece with real butter and plenty of honey.

He was thrilled. He sat down with a loaf of bread, some butter, and a knife and ate to his hearts content.

A number of unpleasant appointments! That loaf there in the image is quite good looking. Perhaps I should copy you and go making some challah bread.

I typically make bread for holidays....as you say it can be addictive. I also use it for making good filling french toast and for the best bread pudding you can get.

Wow! That's great to have home made bread. I don't often make the bread because I often fail it. The bread is not as good as I expected. And it also spends a long time for me to make it and this is why I usually do it in the weekends.

I am now retired so I have the time - sort of - to make it on the day I choose. I always make a triple batch of bread dough because of the amount of time I spend making it.

I am not a big eater of bread. My husband could eat his weight in fresh baked bread. He would be the size of a barn if I baked it all the time.

He loved it. Making the bread is easier that most people think, even when you do it the old fashioned way.

Yum, if I make homemade bread, it's almost always pumpkin bread. Today is kind of yucky out so we're not doing much. Might make some brownies later.
