And the world was a little duller.
The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is reach for my phone and check the news. Once upon a time I was able to actually watch the news whilst munching on my breakfast, but earlier starts put paid to that.
I reached for my phone this morning and clickety-clicked on the BBC News app to be greeted with the horrid truth of things that happen when I go to bed a little earlier than usual.
Manchester is not local to me; it's the other side of the country. Although in American terms it's probably still less than half the distance betwixt Los Angeles and San Francisco. In that sense, anything that happens in England and the UK is probably local to me. I have been to the Arena {once, twice, I'm not sure} to boogie on down to some tunes.
Last night some people {mostly younger ladies?} went to the Manchester Arena to boogie on down with Ariana Grande. Some people went to pick up their daughters and sisters who had boogied themselves into exhaustion. Yet other people went to work, to earn money to feed and clothe themselves and their families, at the Manchester Arena. Most will make it home with a terrible tale to tell, but some will never go home again, and some will live with their pain and injuries for many years.
The sun is shining and the skies are bright blue, but it should be grey and miserable and broken.
So sad.

It's awful. It always is. You wonder sometimes how the world can go on when so much evil is in it.

The world is a cruel place. I suspect it always will be. We can but try to make it less so. :(

i 'twas purely horrified 's we got the initial news here'n the u.s. 't the time, they'd still not figured what'd occurred. my heart goes out to all the families who lost loved ones 'n all who'll carry those sights/smells/sounds 'n pain the rest 'f their lives. i agree, seems odd how the sun continues to shine, the birds still sing, etc. when such tragedies occur.
big hugs!
