Blessings Box

Last weekend I noticed a Blessing Box outside our local church, I had always heard of these but had never seen one in any town near me till recently. It is a very kind and giving thing for the church to set up and I know it helps many people in need, and Forest Grove has many homeless people so the fact there is food and hygiene products left for them is heartwarming. Here is a photo I had taken and meant to upload and write a discussion about them but got sidetracked. Have you ever seen a Blessings Box??

That is nice, and reassuring to know that you are part of a caring community. I worked for an employer who didn't always have the funds to pay us, and would go a month without paying us. One day I went into work and there was a table set up with the same sign over it as in the picture here.

Oh that is so nice of your church to initiate a blessing box like that. We don't have that here, because if we do thieves would get them. So the church would buy goods and give them directly to very poor families in the community instead.

I've never seen one, but that's a good idea. Here, people leave stuff like food and clothing along the sidewalk for whoever needs it to take.

@chrissbergstrom - We do have four Free Little Library boxes. Need a book, take it. Don't want a book, leave one.

I have always heard of things like this, but never seen one with Food. Around here, they have for books, and occasionally someone might leave a treat there but not all the time. But never checked to see what actual churches might do besides Food banks

Not in south Florida though we do have a lot of free food places. By the same token Ft. Lauderdale is trying to get rid of homeless people anyway they can. Sad.

A local business in our town set one up last year. We are a small community but we have our share of those in need. It is a wonderful way to help those who may be ashamed to ask for help. Thanks for the reminder, I need to take a couple things over to it.
