I Love Flowering Plants, But....

This time of year, all sorts of lovely plants and trees are in bloom where I live. I love the sweet scent of lilac that wafts in through the windows and I adore walking down a street lined with the delicate white blossoms of apple trees.
But, I have a problem:
I suffer from seasonal allergies.
When I was tested for allergies as a child, I was told that I reacted to just about everything: grass, trees, cats, dogs, horses, fish - you name it. I knew that cat dander bothered me, and I had a couple of food allergies that the tests confirmed. But I never had any symptoms for most of the things I was supposed to be allergic to.
That is, when I was a child.
As an adult, I react to most of the things that never bothered me when I was young. And that means that in springtime, my eyes and nose are always bothering me. This week, I find that I have itchy eyes and my nose is almost constantly clogged. The allergy pills the doctor prescribed take the edge off when I'm not reacting too much. But right now, they just aren't strong enough.
Luckily, none of my allergies is serious. And I don't have asthma or any other breathing condition. So I'm just uncomfortable when the pollen or spore counts are high.
Do you have any seasonal allergies? How do you cope with them?

I do not. Not allergic to anything. Thankfully. Glad the meds work for you.

yep, I have allergies and Asthma.
I was tested when I was a child to and received allergy shots to try to boost my tolerance of those I was allergic to most.. Which I think helped for the most part.
I was allergic to cats and dogs and dust and trees, grass.. supposedly milk and eggs . but never saw a problem with that.
Now I get the flare ups in the Spring and in the winter too when the house is shut up and I am cooped up with my 15 cats and 4 dogs.. lol
I just take a benedryl when it gets bad. That's about it.

I don't know if I react to the nut trees. We had walnut trees in our yard a few years ago and I don't think they bothered me. But I discovered that I do react to the pollen of some maple trees in early spring!
I hope your allergies aren't too bad this spring, Anna.

It could be a very lovely scene with all the colorful and sweet-smelling flowers and plants in your place! But so sad that you have that allergy problem! I hope you would not have such allergy attacks.

Thank you so much for your concern, my friend! At the moment, none of my flowering plants are in bloom. The ones we just acquired will likely only blossom next season. (I'm more bothered by the pollen from the trees and grass, at the moment.) But I think it will be lovely when they do!

I use Claritin or the generic version thereof. It helps me, because my allergies aren't very severe.

No, but it must be disappointing not to be able to take in the beauty around you in a carefree way
