Other People - Movie Review

I watched a movie on Netflix the other day, this one was about a struggling comedy writer whom returned home to help take care of his sick mother, he is incredibly close to his mother but seems somewhat estranged from his father whom was not accepting of him coming out at gay. The movie is a bit slow at some points but it is a very moving and emotional story, and Molly Shannon does a surprisingly excellent portrayal of the ailing mother, i am so used to seeing her in comedic films like Superstar that it's hard to believe it's the same woman portraying that of this strong brave woman battling cancer while still making sure all of her family is ok. The term Other People is often referenced in the movie and it's titled that because often when we are grieving or dealing with issues we don't think how it also effects other people, other people are grieving and dealing with issues to, we are not alone. One of the more beautifully touching moments is when Jesse Plemons whom plays the son is talking with his friend whom had lost his mother to cancer, and his friend says how he was never a very religious person so he had a hard time when people would say she will be looking down on you from heaven, or oh she is in a better place now, but one thing did stick with him before his mother died she said she would always be there and anytime he saw her favorite flower that was her, he of course knew it wasn't but that didn't stop him from taking the time to remember and grieve and think about his mother when he saw that flower. Definitely a tear jerker it is on Netflix, i highly reccomend it.
