~Last night Was Heart Breaking~

Hey everyone I hope your doing well. Last night was absolutely heart breaking for me. My husband was up every 20 minutes or so screaming in pain from having the shingles. =(
He was even wimpering in his deepest sleep. It was so awful seeing him in that kind of pain. I just wanted so bad to make it go away for him.
He's going to the hospital in a few hours when he's done at work. I hope they can give him something for pain.
I prayed all night that God would heal him and at least let him sleep. Finally around 4ish this morning my husband slept for a few hours and so did I.
Please keep praying for him.

Shingles is a herpes virus, related to chickenpox. If you have chickenpox the virus lives in your spinal fluid the rest of your life. Stress can cause it to erupt.For some people sun exposure can trigger it and so can being around people who have active cases of the chicken pox. It is like a huge patch of cold sores but usually is found around the back and waist and chest when it breaks out, but not always.

@Kandae11 It's a virus that you can get if you have had chicken pox. Your more prone to get it if you have a low immune system. Which my husband does.

@LovingMyBabies The immune system can be strengthened with lots of vitamin C and garlic.

@jstory07 I wish my husband could get the vaccine but they won't give it until he's 60.

@marguicha Last night they did yes. I wrote this the night before.
He cannot get the medicine until Monday after work.

@marguicha Yeah they don't split it up. It's $100 for the prescription they gave him and we don't have it yet.

@Dwdavis The last time he was in pain like this was when he was cut ligaments and tendons in his hand from a saw while working. =(
He woke the whole house from screaming in pain last night. It was an awful night.

@LovingMyBabies I was just reading that a cool compress followed by an application of calamine lotion may help. The article also suggested ibuprofen or oral pain meds, as @Mike197602

Shingles is nasty.
Antivirals are good to get so are things like ibuprofen.
I'd probably say a GP visit is better than a hospital in my experience.
In the short term get some ibuprofen as it works to reduce the pain and doesn't require a prescription..in the uk and I suspect the US too.
Hope he gets better soon.

@Mike197602 Yeah he doesn't have health insurance at the moment. =( He took ibuprofen but it didn't give him much relief last night. Thank you.

@NJChicaa He "says" after he gets done with this job he's on he will take some time off. I don't actually believe that but we will see.

@LovingMyBabies he really does need to take some time off to rest and recover though, especially if has such a weak immune system as you wrote. His body can't fight it off while he is exerting himself daily. Just not possible.

@LovingMyBabies if you have any tea tree oil in the house, put some on the effected area. It has antiviral properties

@Courtlynn I feel so bad for him too, it was horrible hearing and seeing him hurt so badly. =(

I was trying to find the crying button, then I remembered i wasn't on Facebook! I know shingles are serious pain Your hubby will be in my prayers. I am so, so sorry. Horrible for him, horrible for you to watch someone you love in such agony. Hugs

@LovingMyBabies hydrocodone didn't work for my dad, they gave him something specifically for nerve pain. So I hope he gets the right thing the first time.Everybody's different I know

bless his heart 'n yers 's well. capsasin creams'll help with the pain 'n such can be gotten o'er the counter. i do hope that he was able to see a doc though 'n get some meds to help such heal quicker. thankfully (knockin' wood) i've yet to 've such'n affliction. my sweet momma, dad 'n cousin 've endured such though 'n i felt helpless, my heart ached fer 'em. sendin' healin' hugs!

@crazyhorseladycx Yes he saw a doctor last night and got pain medicine. He can't fill the other one until Monday when he gets paid since it's $100.

@JamesHxstatic Yes it was awful. He went to the hospital last night and got pain medicine. He got an anti viral medicine too but that's $100 and he can't get it until Monday.
