I am only interested by the competence/skill of a doctor, not by the gender. I need to trust my doctor, that is all. My regular doctor is a male actually, but since I got a stroke 2 months ago I have seen 3 other doctors, and all were female. I was not liking the first one at the hospital, but I could not chose at this moment, and she was better than what I thought, as I am still alive.

I am more comfortable with woman OBGYNE Dr. but gender is no problem with me for General Check up and Dentals as long as they are professionals and give their best to help you with your health problems

@youless In that respect, they both would be since they have equal schooling, which is a lot, with residencies and internships before they start their own practices. I just find male doctors, my experience so far, doesn't have the compassion I'm looking for. Women, in my experience, listen more and are ready to explore options. I had a female doctor until she retired and I inherited a male doctor. Not very happy with that outcome.

Like you, I am more concerned with attitude and expertise. I want my doctor to listen and to treat me like I may also know something, and not be rude or look down on me.

I feel more comfortable if doctor is female, but it's not compulsory.

Always female. With the exception of my fiancé and a few male friends - I don't like guys touching me. The only time I don't care about the gender of the Doctor is when I go to the ER with a migraine. Then, all I care about is getting the medications to stop the pain!

I don't care what gender they are or identify as. As long as they are qualified and know what they are doing is what matters to me.

Yeah, a good doctor should not be judged by gender however, as a woman, I sometimes want my doctor to be a woman too whenever I go for a Check up...

@youless Yeah, that's what I observed. Thought nothing's wrong with male doctor, it's just that we are not comfortable with them.??

Before I first want to the gynecologist I hoped it would be a female doctor, but I got what I wanted and still felt weird. Later on I tried not to think about it. Male doctors were good to me too. What has to be done has to be done.

@youless People don`t judge doctors by gender. Sometimes we just feel more comfortable if we can choose. Some people are shy.

I prefer a good doctor who can cure my illness. Gender doesn't matter. The main idea is to recover fast from illness....
