I have no requirement in this aspect at all. I don't mind the doctor is a female or male, even if I go to the gynecology department. I just pay attention to the doctor's attitude. A good doctor is not judged by the gender.

I am only interested by the competence/skill of a doctor, not by the gender. I need to trust my doctor, that is all. My regular doctor is a male actually, but since I got a stroke 2 months ago I have seen 3 other doctors, and all were female. I was not liking the first one at the hospital, but I could not chose at this moment, and she was better than what I thought, as I am still alive.

The skill is important, but I also find it important for a doctor to be moral.

I am more comfortable with woman OBGYNE Dr. but gender is no problem with me for General Check up and Dentals as long as they are professionals and give their best to help you with your health problems

No, a doctor should not be judged on gender. Some people just prefer one over the other and has nothing to do with ability. I prefer women doctors because I feel more open with them over a male doctor.

I often think that male doctors will be much more professional because they have more time focus on their careers.

@youless In that respect, they both would be since they have equal schooling, which is a lot, with residencies and internships before they start their own practices. I just find male doctors, my experience so far, doesn't have the compassion I'm looking for. Women, in my experience, listen more and are ready to explore options. I had a female doctor until she retired and I inherited a male doctor. Not very happy with that outcome.

Like you, I am more concerned with attitude and expertise. I want my doctor to listen and to treat me like I may also know something, and not be rude or look down on me.

Yes, but unfortunately such kind of good doctors are not so common. Perhaps today there are many patients and the doctors have no time to be patient.

Always female. With the exception of my fiancé and a few male friends - I don't like guys touching me. The only time I don't care about the gender of the Doctor is when I go to the ER with a migraine. Then, all I care about is getting the medications to stop the pain!

Before I first want to the gynecologist I hoped it would be a female doctor, but I got what I wanted and still felt weird. Later on I tried not to think about it. Male doctors were good to me too. What has to be done has to be done.
