A sales representative or a technical translator (writer) , which is better for career planning?

If you didn't made a career planning from 26 years ago, will you start as a sales representative or a technical translator (writer) now? If you choose neither of them, then what's your opinion on these two different jobs and what kind of job do you want to do?

Oh, sounds good! But in China, you can start your own business and make more and more money if you are good at promoting product and showing yourself. But if you can't establish interpersonal relationship successfully, then you will lose the chance of gaining expertise in order to be an experienced writer or translator. Maybe in your country the condition turns to be different, yeah?

@Lisa201 I had worked in China before. I am flexible when I had worked in an American company and deal with Chinese partners. So I think it is possible to do both ways.
