That cheese wrapper sure did stick!

Last night, I was fixing myself a sandwich and put a piece of American Cheese on it. When I took the cheese out of the fridge, I start taking off the clear wrapper of the thin cheese. The wrapper was really sticking more than normal. I could have sworn I got all of it off the cheese. I bit down on to the sandwich and thought the cheese kind of tasted odd. After, I swallowed it, then I realized I had not only swallowed the bite of sandwich with the cheese, I also swallowed a bit of plastic wrap that surrounded the cheese! All these thoughts ran through my head, like "can you believe that", "did I poison myself",, did I hurt my body by consuming a small portion of a cheese wrapper"? I feel fine , but I feel dumb in a way for not being more alert about the sticky wrapper.

I hope this makes you feel better : I once made myself a sandwich using the same type of sliced cheese. I put the mustard on, the cheese and topped it with ham and some tomato. I went to bite down and only THEN did I realize I had forgotten to take the wrapper off the cheese. Needless to say I just threw the whole lot out. By that time I was grossed out and made myself a bowl of soup instead. I am sure you will be fine as far as consuming a bit of the wrapper goes.

I've never ate the wrapping but I have had trouble getting it off a few slices before.

I wonder if it was the brand I bought. I bought a different brand than what I had bought and maybe they make the wrapper more hard to open and peel back.

@LeaPea2417 The cheese wrapped in plastic has 'stuff' in it that natural cheese doesn't I believe.

Sometimes it is close to impossible to remove all of the wrapping. I'm glad you are ok.

I don't think a little bit of the wrap is going to really cause you any harm.

I don't think anything bad will happen to you. As it is it was only a little piece and that's not toxic

And this is why I just use cream cheese or shredded cheese. Unlike you I was unfortunate or unlucky or even stupid to make my own sandwich without even unwrapping the plastic wrapper! I blame it on lack of sleep and coffee but really it's just me and my carelessness. Fortunately I was not able to i te through the plastic sheet but I felt so embarrassed ??!

I don't think that I have ever done that, but I do remember wrappers that did not want to give up the cheese. Next time, cut the sandwich in half or maybe quarters just to be sure lol!!

Consuming plastic is not the way to go, but I doubt that a little piece will hurt.
