Day 279
Proverbs 27:10
Proverbs 27:10 Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbor that is near than a brother far off.
How many times have you needed to make a phone call for help, and it was a convenient or inconvenient time – late at night when everyone was asleep, but without help you would not be able to do what needed doing? Who is the number one person you can count on no matter what time of the day or night it is? We all face those situations. Cars break down, someone needs to get to the hospital, you’re running late and someone needs to pick your child up from daycare. There are any number of situations that can happen.
Solomon said our friends were better to go to than relatives. Why is that?
Who understands you better than anyone? Who do you go to when things go wrong? Who do you call when things go right and you received the promotion, award, achievement you were hoping for? Isn’t it your best friend and confidante? You don’t tell your family half what is going on in your life, however, your friend knows you better than you know yourself and will come to your aid no matter what time it is.
As Christians, you have a friend who sticks closer than a brother, someone you can rely on no matter what situation you’re facing, and with Satan’s interference in your life, you face a lot of situations. Your number one friend is Jesus. When you take time to pray about where to turn, he will direct you to the person who will best help your situation. Not only will that person come to your aid, they will wait with you and pray with you.
Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.
Remember friendship is a two-way street. In order to receive, you must also give. If you are always calling for help, but can’t be found when someone needs your help, you will soon find yourself without help when you need it most.
Acts 20:35 I have showed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
When you help those in need, you are fulfilling the gospel command to go and do.
Let’s pray: Father, help me be a friend to those who need my help, and always be available no matter what time of the day or night it is. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

This is very good discussion. I never want to bother anyone. I have a friend and a boyfriend I could text, but truth be told, I was never used to asking people for help anymore than I had to. My Mother and I were there for each other. Now, with my Mom gone, I would choose my friend or my boyfriend. Yet, I don't even want to do that. I am not saying that either one has made me feel like a burden. It's me. I just feel like I don't want to bother anyone.

I do have a friend that can call me anytime and she has been there for me in the worst of times as well. I love being able to help whenever I can.

My ex is always there for me. He is my rock. I am not nearly as nice to him as he deserves.
