Storm damage

a tree downed by a storm

We got up Friday morning and saw this tree across the street, in the empty field. I have often wondered why the city or county did not cut it down, it had a lot of bare branches and looked half dead. It is all the way down now. I took pictures although it was still pretty dark, because I knew it would be cut up by the time I got home. I was right. It is interesting and awesome to see the storm damage around here.

The storm that hit your area must have been a huge storm and very windy to knock down a tree like that.

We had eighty mile an hour winds. This tree was totally out in the open. We have some small branches down in back but not so much.

@GardenGerty I guess you dodged a bullet as we say in Louisiana.

Yes, it is gone now and to keep it from getting out on the road they had to cut it up and take it away.

I think that the storm is too strong. I hope they will cut this tree as soon as possible.

There were about three trees pretty near each other and they were cut up and removed that day.

@GardenGerty That's nice. At least, it was being removed with the concern citizens.

We have a very strong wind today, last year it knocked down a beautiful tree not far from here. I hope not to have damages.

That sky did come out pretty in this picture. Yes, this is a sturdy little house but I probably should look into getting a storm shelter.

I hate storms. They cause too much damages. You are right this tree should have been cut earlier on. That's a nice picture by the way. The combination of colors makes it look awesome

Storm damages are awesome when they do not happen on your property. The picture is interesting despite of the dark, it is weird how this tree was "cut" by the storm.

I liked how the color shows in this picture. Much prettier than I imagined it would. I can see trees further away that appear in worse shape but are still standing.

That reminds me of when a hurricane came through and knocked down a tree in our yard along with power lines. We were without power for 4 days, it was awful!

Being without power is awful especially when you have small children to care for. We have had ice storms when my kids were little that did a lot of damage.

It looks so sad. Storm damage here can really be awesome to see, as long as no one is hurt.

The tree looked even sadder while still standing. Sometimes a lone bird would perch at the very top, totally bare of green or leaves. It made me think of a desert scene in an old western movie.

The stem of the tree was not strong enough to stop the heavy wind.

I believe it may have been rotten on the inside.
