~I Wouldn't Complain To A Homeless Person~

Do you often complain about your life? Do you complain to those who have it much worse than you do? I have heard people complain about the smallest of things...sitting in traffic, their fast food order being wrong, their hair dresser didn't get their hair perfect this time, etc... Hate to tell ya but I would love to be able to afford to get my hair done at all so I wouldn't be complaining about how they do it! I would never go up to a homeless person and complain about my life when they clearly have it much worse than I do. So why do some people complain to people that have it so much worse than them? Another thing...how do you know what's a good price to me? Or cheap? Those are different in everyone's world. $45 for a pillow is NOT cheap to me!! I spent $5 on mine and that is cheap (to me). Lol $75 for a subscription anywhere online is a LOT of money to me! Honestly, $1 can be expensive to those who don't have a dollar... Just some random thoughts I was having this morning... I'M NOT SAYING DON'T COMPLAIN-WE ALL DO THAT. I'M SAYING BE CAREFUL WHO YOU ARE COMPLAINING TO. THEY COULD HAVE IT A WHOLE LOT WORSE THAN YOU!

Like you, I wouldn't think of complaining about my life. Yes, I do worry about money and I can't afford a lot, but at least I have a house, I have a family, and things could be a lot worse than they are. I don't understand why some people complain about things like their hair not being done right and things like that. We should be grateful for what we have.

@LovingMyBabies Oops sorry. I guess I did misunderstand a little. But yes, we shouldn't complain to those who have it much worse. And even then, whether we complain or not, we should remember that sometimes, some have it worse than us.

@dodo19 You actually misunderstood me here. I didn't say not to complain-Nobody is perfect and everyone complains now and then. I said don't complain to those who have it much worse than you do and we shouldn't complain about the little things.

You are absolutely right. I do my best not to complain. However, sometimes people think you're complaining when you're simply making an observation. I'm not sure that noting the fast-food place messed up your order rises to the level of complaining unless you keep harping on it to anyone who will listen. Around here, one of the popular ways to answer the question, "How are you doing?" is to say, "No complaints." When someone says that, I always respond with, "Does anyone listen when you do?" Invariably, this gets a laugh and I'm told, "No, they don't." Then I say, "That's why I just make like a penguin, smile, wave, and say everything's fine."

@DWDAVIS Actually I really wasn't saying don't complain. Everybody complains at some point, no matter who they are. I was saying be careful who your complaining to because there are people out there who have things much worse. As the title says I wouldn't complain to a homeless person that I can't pay my bills since they would kill to have a roof over their heads.

Complaining seems to be a human trait....the weather is number one on the list. People often have no concept of what others might be going through. They look at what they see and make their judgements from that.. I'm currently travelling.....does that make me rich...no...I've saved my pennies and am travelling on a shoestring budget.

@Morleyhunt Maybe once the kids are grown we could travel too. My husband could make $200 one week, and the next he could make $500. There's no way to budget or save anything because we never know what he will make or which bills we can pay. My point wasn't about complaining. It was about be careful who you complain to because you never know what someone is going through or how bad they have it financially.

I agree, but also disagree. Yes, we all complain. And sometimes it is small stuff, but to some it really is a big deal. Like getting your food wrong when you're a picky eater, or even have allergies. Or getting your hair done wrong, as some don't want to be seen with bad hair.. especially depending on how it got messed up (color, cut). Etc. Also, if we watched who we complained to, then we'd have to always be scared to say something to anyone. As we don't always know when someone has it worse. As not everyone speaks of their bad living situarions, or bad health, etc. So someone could seem happy and have things going for them, but in reality they aren't / don't. And we can't live that way. Watching every little thing we do or say. But I do fully agree on the money part. $45 is way too much for a pillow, no matter how good it may be. I won't even pay $45 for a pair of shoes. Or even $20. We go as cheap as it can get for things, even when we have lots of money to spare. Its just what we do.

I agree. Complain to the right people. I once saw a woman complaining about her ivory tower problems to a homeless guy who told her "I DON'T GIVE A S##T!" He had worse issues going on. She called the cops on him for being a disturbance. Now, I'm one of those homeless guys who will listen...but I might laugh.

@Iquestionitall You know, I don't blame him. I have been homeless and hearing about other people's problems is the last thing you want or need.

I try not to complain. I know others have it worse. And I agree, about prices. I think a used car priced for 10 thousand dollars is high. I can't imagine ever buying a new one which in these days are $25,000 and up.

@Leapea2417 Oh we all complain now and then which is totally normal. However, we don't have to complain to someone who has it much worse than we do. Yeah prices are insane now a days! We always buy used vehicles, the one we have now was $1,500! Lol. And that we bought when we got our tax money.

I've been known to do my share of whining..haha but you are right, you should never complain in the presence of someone who has it worse. I'll be remembering that. We should really just take things as they come and be thankful we are alive to live through it.

@LovingMyBabies whenever I complain, it's always to my husband. And I think that is the best. He should know how I feel. With others, I never do.

I agree! When my life goes badly I try to look at the fact that there are many in a worse position than me! If I have a heartbeat and can breathe I can change my situation so I don't complain I try to change it! I hate when certain friends plead poverty! Then they eat out in fancy places or buy a pair of shoes that cost half my weeks wages.

@Essjayd Well everyone complains at times but it's important not to complain to the person going through much worse things than you. Yeah when I say I'm broke, I am literally searching for change to buy whatever we need!! Not eating out, getting my hair or nails done, buying new clothes, etc...

@LovingMyBabies Yep my type of broke is hunting down the back of the sofa or through jacket pockets for loose change to eat! Still can't see the point of complaining though. It just uses energy that could be put to better use trying to change the situation!

Yes before complaining we should think about what we are having and what if we don't have them. There are many people out there which don't have that easy life like us. There is always someone like us or someone who is having worse life out there. So we should be glad for what we are having.

You are right. Before complaining we should think that there are people in this world who have to lead a worse life than us.
