So we have a new guitar in the house.
What's next?
Time to learn few basics in guitar; plucking, strumming and chords. Then sing some easy to accompany songs.
What now?
Downloading some apps in google store so we have some guidelines. Time to sing some lovely song.
When I was younger I know how to play guitar, its been years that I haven't done playing guitar. I will try if that skills and talents still within me.

I can play guitar and sing at the same time. It takes a lot of practice to learn how to do that.

It also takes a lot of time to hardened the finger tips so it can press well the guitar chords. Are you using any material or thing for your finger tip.

When I tried to strum and hit the chords, I can still recall the way but I am a rusty in doing it. I think I'm going used to it.

Because you got some basic knowledge it may be easy now. But, for a novice, it is not possible I think.

If you had played a guitar, then it will be easy for you to try it again. It can be learned again with constant practice.

Yeah I know how to play and I can still remember the basic chords, and it just so amazing to play the guitar again. If I have one musical instrument that I can really play, its not the keyboard or drums, its the guitar.

It's still with you, you just have to awaken it Focus first on basic songs. (leaving on a jetplane, What's up, etc) I would suggest picking the guitar in the morning to strengthen your fingers since our fingers are at the weakest at daytime

@ilocosboy I only use the basic one such as d'addario strings that come with a set. And the gauge of the strings should also depend on what type of guitar you are using. Always go for the thinner ones. I wouldn't require you much force when tuning and fretting it.

Oh wow, this really helps, I will try to download Leaving On A Jetplane and will try to play guitar this morning.
My fingertips that pressing the strings are hurting, can you suggest any thing that I can use?

I do play guitar and i think it is one of the hardest instruments to learn. If you very dedicated then only you can learn it properly. I can just give few suggestions like first learn about chords definitely, you can find chords charts on internet anywhere. Then try to learn some strumming on beat. Keep practicing and don't give up.

We used to have a guitar when me and my older brother were kids. But none of us were interested in learning to play the guitar. One day it fell from tge cabinet and boom! It got broken.
But when I was in college, I got ineterested in playing the recorder.

Ten years or more when the last time I played guitar, that was so long ago.
But when my daughter brought guitar in our house my interest risen from my heart and I start strumming those chords and it feels great. I have two songs to practice now, "One Friend" by Dan Seals and "Don't Fade Away" by Acosta Russell.

when I tried to strum the guitar this afternoon, I can say a little bit of the skill is still within me, I can still recall and press the basic chords of the string and I can still do the basic strumming and my voice is still there.
Too bad my finger tips are aching now, I cannot stand the longer pressing of the string because my fingers are aching.
It will take time that my finger tips will be hardened again.
But I would say I love it.

@ilocosboy Tae care of yours fingers keep your fingers (maybe you should give them a rest).
The main thing is that you enjoy and with more training later you will reach your best playing
