Green is more than a color

If you look, these green trees are all different colors. They get along. The contribute their own gifts to the surroundings. The have shade, nuts, wild fruits for the birds. They give interest and texture and color appeal. Green is a mindset. A community that provides attractive spaces filled with trees, and flowers and interesting things to look at is green. It will continue to grow. This photo is of some of the trees in McPherson Memorial Park in McPherson, Ks. It is also sometimes called The Fishpond Park or the Courthouse Park because it is by the courthouse and it has a goldfish pond. It is filled with memorials--to the constitution, to the veterans, beginning with the Civil War. To the POWs and MIAs. They are all remembered. It is full of memories, for me, and for many others. It has seen celebrations, graduations and weddings. Family picnics and outings took place there. In my heart and mind the memories will remain green.

I remember I had done up my flat when we were living in the city with hues of green. Every shade of green was used starting with the darkest green for the carpet. With this background whoever wore any clothes and used our sofas they blended (lol)

Yes, especially with my kids and later with grand kids. The public library is just across the street, and the YMCA

Yes. I first visited this park in 1963 when we brought my older sister to college. I have good memories of feeding the fish in the pond.

The leaves of the trees change from pale green to more vibrant and dark color from Spring to Summer. Even the grass is never a flat shade of green, but a mix of different shades of green, very pleasant to the eye.

Some of these are always light, some always dark and smokey looking. We do have trees that turn from baby green in spring through the darker shades and then vibrant red in fall.

@GardenGerty All the trees here around are lighter in Spring, from walnuts to birch trees.

I think cities should always incorporate green spaces, as well as spaces with water features. It helps us be healthy to be around nature.

@GardenGerty I agree. It is so ideal to read some books under the tree.

I love this photo! I often see the greens and browns and purples but I rarely talk about them, I have tried to paint what I see but I am not that good yet.

It is frustrating. . . the picture in your mind does not travel down your hand well. It would make an awesome painting.

They keep adding new features. There is a pavilion erected to celebrate the Constitution that is only about thirty years old.

What a nice for the color green. Its true the green color is cool to our eyes aside from yellow. Green is also means 'go' during traffic. Its so happen the green also connote something like inappropriate especially when we say green mind, green jokes.

So in your language it is the same as ours. If we say someone is "green" they are inexperienced. If a horse is "green broke" it is not really trained yet. My mom always talked about "green horns" and I am not sure if that means cattle that act tough when their horns are baby and green.

I love to see green trees and green grass. To me that means that it is spring or getting there and the weather will be nice and winter is fading away.
